Performance Portfolio
Dr. Chris Carrillo is the professor of trumpet in the School of Music at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He has served as the studio trumpet professor since 2009 and teaches both graduate and undergraduate applied trumpet, pedagogy, and literature. Prior to his appointment at JMU, he served as an assistant professor of trumpet at Texas A&M University-Kingsville from 2005-2009 and as an adjunct instructor of trumpet at The University of Texas at San Antonio from 2003-2005.

Dr. Carrillo has performed in various mediums including commercial, jazz, early period instrument, classical chamber and orchestral. He earned doctoral and masters degrees in trumpet performance from The University of Texas at Austin, a bachelor of music education from the University of Memphis, and did additional study as an exchange student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, UK.
