Echoes of Change: Voices That Shape the Future

People. Purpose. Progress. In Action.

On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, AMS IV came together for a powerful celebration of student voice and creative expression at our Arts Showcase, Echoes of Change: How Movements Past and Present Shape the Future . What unfolded was more than a performance — it was a living example of PRIDE, instructional excellence, and the courage of young people willing to think critically, speak honestly, and create boldly. From spoken word to vocal performances, step routines to original poetry, students explored history, identity, resilience, culture, and lived experience through art . Each piece reflected a deeper understanding: movements — cultural, historical, and personal — leave echoes that shape who we are becoming.

Perseverance & Discipline: Courage Behind the Curtain

Before the stage lights came on, there were drafts, rehearsals, revisions, and long hours of preparation. Students reported early, practiced during designated periods, and balanced academic responsibilities alongside performance commitments . That preparation was visible in every moment — in the steady delivery of original poetry, in the timing of choreography, in the discipline of musical execution. When the Lady Lions Step Team performed Movements & Sound and the PRIDE Pact Dance Team brought Freedom to life, the audience witnessed more than movement — they saw focus, stamina, unity, and excellence earned through effort . P.R.I.D.E. in action: Perseverance through preparation. Discipline through performance.

Integrity & Student Voice: Speaking Truth with Purpose

Original works like The Life I Thought I’d Never Be Living, Between Two Shores, Microaggression, and Lost in Reality invited the audience into honest reflection . Students demonstrated integrity — not just in content, but in ownership. They told their stories with authenticity. They asked difficult questions. They examined identity, belonging, conflict, and resilience with maturity and thoughtfulness. This is what it means to Think Critically & Act Thoughtfully. Art became a vehicle for dialogue. Poetry became analysis. Performance became reflection. At AMS IV, we don’t just teach students to consume information — we empower them to interpret it, respond to it, and create from it.

Respect & Collaboration: Learning Better Together

Echoes of Change was intentionally collaborative. Under the direction of Logan Vaughn and with Alphonso Walker Jr. serving as emcee , students, staff, coaches, and technical teams worked together to create a meaningful and supportive space . Behind the scenes:

  • The Tech Team ensured smooth transitions and sound clarity
  • Coaches prepared performers with structure and high expectations
  • Staff provided supervision, logistics, and encouragement
  • Alumni voices connected past and present

This is what it looks like when We Learn Better When We Learn Together and We Care Deeply About People. Students felt seen. Voices were affirmed. Talent was honored.

Excellence: Rigor, Reflection, and Joy

Excellence at AMS IV is not accidental — it is intentional. Students performed original written works grounded in social awareness and historical understanding . They analyzed movements past and present and translated that understanding into creative expression. That is rigorous thinking made visible. The piano performance of Lift Every Voice and Sing reminded the audience that history lives through art . Vocal selections encouraged strength and confidence. Dance pieces embodied unity and determination. Joy filled the room — but it was joy grounded in preparation, growth, and purpose. This is instructional excellence through the arts.

People. Purpose. Progress.

Echoes of Change reminded us that art is not extracurricular — it is essential. It strengthens voice. It builds confidence. It deepens thinking. It connects community. Our students showed that the future is shaped not only by the movements of the past, but by the courage of those willing to create in the present . Through preparation, collaboration, reflection, and performance, they demonstrated Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Excellence. Learning in action — with P.R.I.D.E. How does this moment show who we are as a school? It shows that at AMS IV, students think deeply, create courageously, collaborate intentionally, and rise to excellence — together.

Great performances require great preparation — and this showcase was powered by a student production team that demonstrated exceptional responsibility, collaboration, and professionalism. A special thank you to our student interns who led the technical and media production:

  • Binta Barrie & Anuoluwapo Joju – Sound
  • Hadiatulaye Diallo – Lighting
  • Cayden Touzin – Video
  • Tanushri Singh & Osaro Ohtago – Photography
  • Koreen Melbourne & Desia-Nea Nozine – Interview Recording
  • Sara Gbajumo – Production Assistant

These students were not simply “helping” — they were operating equipment, managing transitions, capturing artifacts of learning, and ensuring that every voice on stage could be heard and seen clearly.
