News

Canberra

Students from our school have recently undertaken, an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $45.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

The recent Year 5/6 excursion was a fantastic success! Our students thoroughly enjoyed visiting significant landmarks, including Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, the National Archives, Questacon, and the Australian Institute of Sport. A highlight for many was the exciting rock-climbing adventure. Throughout the two-night trip, the students represented our school with pride, demonstrating exemplary behaviour and conduct. We are incredibly proud of them, and it's wonderful to hear that they all had fun and created lasting memories during this valuable learning experience!Enjoy reading the reflections on our excursion from the students below.

“My favourite place we visited in Canberra was Questacon with all the cool science activities. I loved how we got to build our own Lego bridge and test how strong it was.” Jack P

“We all loved our Canberra excursion learning about the history of Australia and how Canberra was designed. My favourite place was the War Memorial and seeing artifacts from the different Wars. The Capital Airport Hotel was great and the food was amazing”. Jack R

“Questacon was my favourite because of all the hands-on activities and interesting things to look at. Some of the staff even did an experiment for us and we could even go on the Big Drop!” Mia H

“I really enjoyed rock climbing because it was so much fun when you got to the top. The earthquake house at Questacon was also really cool.” Charlie A

Our school is excited to announce that the Interrelate program will be offered to our year 5 and 6 students, early term 4. Through interactive and age-appropriate sessions, students will gain valuable knowledge and tools to support their development and wellbeing during this pivotal stage. We look forward to being to offer this program to our students and seeing our students grow more confident and prepared for the challenges and changes ahead.
