Welcome to QRA Weekly!
The first full week with the children back at school has been brilliant.
It's been wonderful to see our pupils return to their full school routines. It's the little things that make such a difference in schools - the way the children entered the hall and sat so wonderfully in this morning's assembly was exemplary. We spoke at length this morning with the children about our Be Kind, Aim High, Discover initiative and how we want to achieve this every day. I'm delighted to say that the children really seem to be absorbing this message!
During learning times, the children have been working hard; the classrooms are focussed and it's clear that they take learning seriously. It's heartening to see our younger pupils settling back into their routines with such enthusiasm and positivity. It's safe to say they have set a fantastic tone for the year ahead.
Our staff team have hit the ground running and I can tell that I'm very lucky to have inherited a hard working and caring team. From our teachers and teaching assistants to our admin staff, everyone has been working tirelessly to ensure a smooth start to the year. Their commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for our pupils is clear and I must thank them for a brilliant start.
I'm excited to share that our enrichment programs are already in full swing. This week, our Year 6 pupils had a clarinet lesson as part of our music tuition program, and our Year 3s went swimming at the Metrodome! These opportunities to explore talents and passions beyond the core curriculum are so important and I'm glad that we are able to offer them to our pupils. If you think that your child(ren) would be interested in music lessons, please get in touch.
Thank you to the parents that I have spoken with this week; your involvement in your child's education and our school community is invaluable.
Have a great weekend and we'll see you next week.
Mr Smith
At Queens Road, we believe that every school day is an opportunity for growth and learning. Regular attendance is crucial for your child's educational success and future prospects. Pupils who attend school consistently are more likely to keep up with their studies, develop important social skills, and build lasting friendships.
Our current school attendance rate sits at 92%. Whilst we're still early in the year, we want to increase this substantially. We know we can achieve this with your support!
Here are a few simple ways you can help:
Establish consistent bedtime and morning routines
Schedule non-urgent appointments outside school hours when possible
Talk to your child about why attending school every day is important
If you're facing any challenges that are affecting your child's attendance, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to support you and can offer guidance or connect you with helpful resources.
Remember, every school day counts. By prioritising attendance, school and home are working together to give our children the best possible start in life.
A big well done to Year 4 last week whose attendance was 97%
