FROM THE Principal’s Desk

Dear Bluejay Family,

I am absolutely thrilled to acknowledge the amazing achievements of our fall athletic season, not only in the victories themselves but in the spirit of sportsmanship, humility, and unity that accompanied them. Our 5th-grade volleyball team, 7th-grade volleyball team, and 7/8 football team have secured their places as champions, demonstrating the exceptional teamwork, dedication, and faith that are the hallmarks of our school. Equally noteworthy is the commendable performance of our two volleyball teams who earned first runner-up honors. These accomplishments attest to the remarkable talent, unwavering perseverance, and indomitable spirit of our athletes.

These triumphs, embraced with both pride and humility, showcase the essence of true sportsmanship, reminding us all of the beauty that comes with victory when accompanied by grace and respect. It is a joy to witness not only the skill our athletes display, but also the character they reveal in both victory and defeat.

I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all of our coaches. Your dedication, time, and expertise have been invaluable in nurturing our students' abilities. Your commitment is truly commendable, and we are immensely thankful for your hard work.

I also extend my heartfelt thanks to the families of our student-athletes. Your unwavering support and encouragement have been instrumental in their journey to success. Your sacrifices and commitment to their pursuits have not gone unnoticed, and we appreciate your partnership in nurturing these talented individuals.

In honor of all of our athletic teams and especially our 2023 Champions, we have planned a jean day with any SCS shirt on Monday, October 30, 2023. This day will allow our school community to celebrate our athletes' hard work and dedication. All of the usual jean day rules apply, and students who do not participate may wear their uniforms. These accomplishments are a testament to the strength of our community, as each and every one of you has contributed to this success.

Let us cherish this moment, embracing the power of unity and the blessings that come with unwavering dedication. Let us continue to support and uplift one another, fostering an environment where all our students can shine.

Go, Bluejays! 🏆🙌

Grace and Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been ineffective. Indeed, I have toiled harder than all of them; not I, however, but the grace of God [that is] with me.”

QUICK LINKS

SCS Mass

This week’s Mass is Wednesday at 8:30 and will be hosted by 5-L. There is limited seating in church, the choir loft, Narthex and PLC. You can also join us online at shbroussard.org/live or the St. Cecilia Facebook page.

All Saints’ Day

November 1 is a Holy Day of Obligation in the Catholic Church. We celebrate All Saints’ Day- a day to honor all those who have died and are rejoicing in Heaven. Take some time to ask your favorite saint to pray for you!

If sending treats to your child’s All Saints’ Day party, please refrain from sending secular Halloween items (witches, skeletons, ghosts, etc.). Our kids receive plenty of worldly influence, so let’s have a holy balance by honoring the beautiful celebrations of our Church!

Adoration

Adoration in the SCS Chapel is Friday, November 3, from 8:00-2:30. We would love for you to join us!

Live Nativity

Live Nativity applications were sent home on Friday, October 27, to 3rd-8th grade students involved in our Youth and Campus ministry programs. This year’s Live Nativity will be on Friday, December 15 and participation in our annual Live Nativity is optional. If your child is interested in participating, the deadline for applications is Wednesday, November 1. An email was sent home Friday by Mrs. Katie Fontenot with more information about Live Nativity. If you have any questions, please reach out to Katie Fontenot at katie@shbroussard.org or Dawn Gary at dgary@scsbluejays.org.

Live Nativity Need!

We are in need of 14 square bales of hay for Live Nativity. These could be delivered any day that week. If you are able to supply any, please email dgary@scsbluejays.org.

It's Broussard Community Fair time! What better way to celebrate than to go on a run! Special thanks to Tommy Miller, Michael and Christie Howard for pulling this together once again! Let's keep the tradition alive and running again this year! Click the link below.

Please continue to bring in your eggs for the confetti egg booth. If you are interested in donating an item for the silent auction, please contact Sheree Prince by email, sprince@scsbluejays.org or call (337) 837-6363.

Dear Bluejay Family,

Our 7/8th Grade Football team is your Christian School League Division II Football Champion! They defeated Ascension Episcopal on Thursday night at STM. This team and season will be one to remember for a very long time. Our Bluejay football team was not scored upon all season and averaged a double-digit differential in margin of victory. Stats are one thing, but the way these boys handled success with grace and humility should make us all proud.

Basketball has practiced this week in the gym and will continue until games begin the last week of November. The basketball league scheduling meeting will be on Monday. Our soccer teams are being evaluated for makeup.

Cross Country is our only sport still competing as of this bulletin. There are three meets left to go in the season. The Cross Country team has practiced hard all week, and will finish strong. They have the third and final Ascension Episcopal Meet on Monday, with the League Championship Meet the week after.

Continuing on the running front, click the link below to register for the Broussard Community Fair 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run. We are looking to eclipse the number of runners from last year, and show how fast our Bluejays are!

We would like to remind everyone of our policy for participating in extracurricular activities after school. As stated in the student handbook on page 51, "If a student is absent 3/7 or more of instructional time, he/she may NOT participate in after-school activities that day without special permission from the administration." This includes, but is not limited to, team practices or games, club meetings, and special school events.

Championship gear and banners are being finalized. As soon as they are available for order, I will provide the details. Thank you for your support of SCS Athletics! To keep up with the schedule for our Bluejays, please follow the link below.

Have a blessed day,

Scott Boudreaux
