PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Dear Bluejay Family, What a beautiful and historic day we experienced together at our groundbreaking ceremony! Seeing our school, parish, alumni, families, and community gathered together in such joy and hope was a powerful reminder of how deeply St. Cecilia School is loved and supported. The excitement in the air was undeniable, but even more moving was the shared sense of mission that united everyone present. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the day such a success. From our speakers and greeters to our cheerleaders, student athletes, reception hosts, volunteers, and staff, every detail was handled with excellence and care. Our students represented St. Cecilia beautifully throughout the event, and I received numerous compliments from visitors on their behavior, reverence, and enthusiasm. Their joy and witness reflected the very best of our Bluejay family. As I shared Friday, our capital campaign is not simply about buildings or future plans. It is about mission. The spaces we are building, the opportunities we are creating, and the sacrifices we are making now are all in service of helping children encounter Christ, grow in faith, and flourish as disciples. We are blessed to have an incredible team of Vision Ambassadors who are available to answer questions and help families learn more about the future of St. Cecilia School and this important campaign effort. To learn more about the campaign, view the master plan, or make a gift, please visit https://www.scsbluejays.org/giving/capital-campaign.cfm . Thank you for your continued prayers, support, and belief in the mission of St. Cecilia School. The future is bright for our Bluejays.

Grace & Peace, Erin B. Henry Principal

ANNOUNCEMENTS

EIGHTH GRADE PRE-ACT SUCCESS

Kudos to our eighth-grade class for an outstanding performance on the Pre-ACT this March! Students were assessed in Math, Science, English, and Reading, and the results are truly worth celebrating. By the numbers:

  • The target composite score for this grade level is 16, and our class average soared to 18.9, with 90% of students scoring at or above benchmark.
  • Our greatest growth was seen in Reading, where the class average reached an impressive 22.975, and 97.5% of students met or exceeded the target score.
  • In Math, students not only met but exceeded our annual goal. We set a target of 68% scoring 16 or higher—our Bluejays surpassed that by 12%, with 80% meeting or exceeding the Math benchmark.

We are also proud to share that every member of the eighth-grade class earned recognition through the National Career Readiness Certificate, an honor awarded by ACT that reflects students’ preparedness in foundational workplace skills essential for success across a wide range of careers. Our students achieved the following distinctions:

  • 7 students earned Platinum
  • 21 students earned Gold
  • 10 students earned Silver
  • 2 students earned Bronze

These results speak to the dedication of our students and the strength of the academic formation they receive at St. Cecilia. We are incredibly proud of our Bluejays and look forward to celebrating their continued success as they prepare for high school and beyond!

We know we have some teacher parents in our extended Bluejay family.

PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY

For the past 4 years, students who have had the opportunity to serve as Principal-for-a-Day are allowed to create a reasonable rule for the day for our student body. This year's Principal-for-a-Day, Miss Jimi Armand, is excited to declare Friday, May 15, Pajama Day for grades 1 through 8. Since that day is also our final school-wide assembly, students, faculty, and staff may want to plan ahead and choose pajamas that reflect their House colors as they take part in the fun. At the same time, we ask for your partnership in ensuring that all attire reflects the modesty and respect that are hallmarks of St. Cecilia School. Please review the following expectations with your child:

  • Modesty First: Pajamas must be loose-fitting and provide full coverage.
  • The "Sit-Test": If a student sits or bends over, no skin (midriff or lower back) should be visible.
  • Safety First: Students must wear closed-toe shoes or sturdy slippers with rubber soles. No bare feet or stocking feet.
  • No Nightgowns/Nightshirts: Unless worn over school length shorts or pajama pants.
  • No Tank Tops: Even if they are part of a matching set.

Students who prefer not to participate are welcome to wear their standard school uniform. Any student not in compliance will be asked to change into uniform attire.

End of the Year Awards

Our end of the year awards celebration will continue to be on the last day of school.
