CINE LUMIERE THE GARDEN PROJECT LPGS & LPPS

Since January 2024 year 5 children from Langley Park Primary School have been working on a documentary film based on, The Garden, a small piece of land that exists between Langley Park school for Girls and Langley Park Primary School.

Over time the students learnt about documentary, filming and framing techniques, sound recording and film editing techniques. .

The documentary film, The Garden seeks to share the well-being factors of gardening and how gardens help to shape collaborative communities with shared goals and ambitions.

The children worked through a process of collaboration, listening to others and planning to create a final product to a set deadline. On Friday 21st June we got to take all the children to Cine Lumiere in South Kensington, London, to view their final outcome on a large cinema screen along with other students’ work ranging from primary schools to college students.

The shared outcomes were amazing… which showed the dedication and commitment that children have for their own work and expression of their own ideas.

After viewing the final film, the children were invited to the stage to discuss their project. The enthusiasm for this was amazing and the children spoke very eloquently about the project and how it developed over time.

Well done to all the year 5 children for their commitment and hard work over the last 6 months; making a collaborative documentary is not an easy task and requires great skill, dedication and commitment to others.

We would like to thank all those involved in the project, the year 5 children, the Eco Club members, the year 12 helpers and Media students, the Science department, staff and parent helpers. without all this generous support such a creative project is not possible.

Thank you to all… !!
