Coaches Corner
We're back with our first newsletter since the end of the 2023-2024 season! I trust all are well and enjoying the first part of summer.
As the school year comes to a close, there are updates from the past few months. We hosted Alumni Day (with highlights and dunks!), welcomed various guests, and completed the academic portion of our year quite well. Also, we are are planning on hosting our first youth camp in late July! Meanwhile, Coach King and I have traveled extensively throughout the DMV, NJ, Philly, New England, and Florida to recruit and build new connections.
Other happenings in Flock land? We have completed our 2024-2025 schedule, which includes multiple tournaments, D1 exhibitions, and exciting new matchups. Our current players are working diligently on their game this summer. We're also examining larger themes: comfort zones, habits, and what it means to be part of a team. Next year, we will welcome 8 new student-athletes to add to our high character group. Exciting!
There are many more updates to come in future weeks - the official schedule release, roster release, open practice dates, elite camp... stay tuned! The Flock is in formation.
Coach Begly
Spring 2024
Throughout the spring, the MBB team worked diligently in the weight room, on the court, and in the classroom. Additionally, we started a new tradition called "Talk with the Flock." The idea is to welcome experts in various fields to visit campus, network, and spend time with our guys. Our first guest was Dr. JP Begly, current orthopedic surgeon and a Johns Hopkins Medical School graduate, who played collegiate basketball at McGill. Dr. Begly also works with the US Ski Team and Vermont Green FC. He played with our guys and offered insight on his journey.

Alunni game 2024
We welcomed 20 + alumni home in late April for a game and social in Chestertown. Many WAC MBB classes were represented, including members from the 1990 team and the 2023-2024 roster. The game ended with an Elam ending! Apologies are in order... the officiating wasn't very good as Coach Begly manned the whistle. We can't wait for our next alumni event.

- First semester home games including an early December tilt v Eastern Shore rival Salisbury.

Alumni Assists with Dallas MArshall '20
Our featured alumni is Dallas Marshall, class of 2020. Dallas was a 1000 point scorer at WAC, 2x All-Centennial selection, and started all 102 games in his career. We caught up with Dallas this week.
Q: What have you been up to since graduation?
A: After graduation, I started working for FINRA in the FP&A group and traveling.
Q: What are your best memories from Washington College?
A: I have alot of great memories from my time at Washington College. First was hosting and winning a Centennial Conference tournament game my jr year. Another great memory was scoring my 1000th point at Dickinson and getting the win to clinch back to back appearances in the CC tournament.
Q: What is your advice to the current MBB players?
A: My advice to the current players is to enjoy the process and every second you get with your teammates on and off the court. It goes by way too fast.
