Sixth Form Newsletter 19th May 2025

Welcome

Dear Families,

As we approach the end of term, it’s time to say a fond farewell to our wonderful Year 13 students as they begin their exam leave. While this marks the end of your regular timetable, many of you will still be attending lessons and revision sessions — and we encourage you to make the most of every opportunity.

Please remember that when you’re on site, whether for lessons, revision or exams, business dress is still required. We know it’s a busy and often stressful time, but maintaining professionalism right through to the end sets the tone for your next steps beyond school.

This is the final push. Use your time wisely, revise consistently, and take care of your wellbeing. You’ve come so far — keep going!

We are incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved and can’t wait to see what your future holds. Good luck in your exams and beyond!

Warm regards,
Mr York - Head of Sixth Form
'A' Level Results Day

We are looking forward to welcoming our Year 13 students back for 'A' Level Results Day on Thursday 14th August 2025.

Results will be available for collection from 9:00 a.m. in the Sixth Form Centre.

This is an important milestone in our student's academic journeys, and we understand it can be a day full of excitement and nerves. Members of staff will be on hand to offer support, guidance, and congratulations as students receive their results. Whether students are heading off to university, apprenticeships, or other exciting opportunities, we’re here to help with any next steps.

We wish all of our students the very best of luck and look forward to celebrating their achievements with them.

Important Information for Absentees

If a student is unable to attend Results Day on Thursday 14th August 2025, there are alternative options to receive results:

  • Results can be emailed to the student
  • Alternatively, a nominated person can collect results on the student's behalf

To arrange either option, students must complete an Exam Results Release Form, available from the Sixth Form Office. If someone is collecting results on a student’s behalf, they will be required to bring valid photo ID with them on the day.

Please note: If you are abroad on Results Day, you will not have access to your school email account, so please plan accordingly.

If you have any questions, please speak to the Sixth Form Team in advance.

Exam Leave

From Friday 23rd May, Year 13 students will move to a part-time timetable as they prepare for and sit their final 'A' Level exams. During this period, students are encouraged to take responsibility for their independent study and revision.

Students are welcome to come into school to study, but for health and safety reasons, they must sign in and out at the Sixth Form Centre each time they attend.

While students will be expected to manage their own time effectively and focus on preparation for their exams, staff will be available throughout this period to provide support, answer questions, and offer guidance when needed.

Year 13 Leavers – Return of Books, Laptops, and Resources

As Year 13 students approach the end of their time with us, we would like to remind everyone that all borrowed books, laptops, and other school resources must be returned before students can be officially signed off.

Their form tutor have posted a list of any outstanding items on the Year 13 Teams page, so please check this carefully and make sure everything is returned as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns about items you’ve borrowed, please speak to your form tutor or visit the Sixth Form Office. Thank you for helping us keep our resources in good condition for future students.

Year 12 Moving into Year 13 – Planning for the Future

As we look ahead to next term, our current Year 12 students will officially become Year 13, marking the beginning of their final year in sixth form. This is an exciting and important time as students begin to focus on their next steps beyond school.

Over the coming months, students will start exploring a range of post-18 options, including university, apprenticeships, employment, and further training. We will begin the university application process, with guidance and support on writing personal statements, researching courses, and preparing strong applications.

We encourage all students to keep as many doors open as possible by considering a wide range of opportunities and exploring all available pathways. Our aim is to ensure that every student is well-informed and confident in the choices they make for their future.

Further information, advice, and workshops will be provided in school as we support each student on their individual journey.

Inspiring Visit from Bemorefab Charity Leaves Lasting Impact

We were honoured to welcome Andrew Bark, Educational Director of the remarkable charity Bemorefab, to our school this week. Dedicated to supporting children with cancer, Bemorefab works to raise awareness and encourage life-saving donations, and Andrew’s visit was nothing short of inspirational.

Delivering a powerful and thought-provoking presentation, Andrew spoke to students and staff about the importance of stem cell, blood, and organ donation. His message was not only deeply informative but also incredibly personal and heart-warming. Through real-life stories and clear facts, he illustrated how becoming a donor can quite literally transform and save lives.

Andrew’s heartfelt delivery struck a chord with everyone in the room. His passion, empathy, and commitment to the cause left a profound impact on our school community, prompting many to reflect on how small acts of generosity can make a world of difference.

We extend our sincere thanks to Andrew and the Bemorefab team for sharing such an important and moving message with us. It was a session that will be remembered for a long time to come and one that may well inspire the donors of tomorrow.
