The next Pender County Schools Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14 at 6pm. The meeting will take place at the Dr. Katherine Herring Resource Center and is open to the public. The meeting will be livestreamed via our YoutTube channel as well.

This week is National School Psychologist Appreciation Week and the folks at Malpass Corner Elementary let everyone know how important theirs is. MCE's School Psychologist is Ms. Gallant (she also serves Rocky Point and West Pender). Ms. Gallant shares, “In honor of School Psychologist appreciation week…I wanted to share with you how grateful I am to work alongside you all to help our students…This year's theme is "Let's Grow Together" and given all the new things we are doing as a district it seems there is a lot of growth going on. We are here to collaborate on this adventure through consultation and direct support. From Penderlea School - Mr. Kessler’s sixth grade social studies class recently finished studying ancient Egypt. They completed a project in which students conducted research on their own and created some fantastic models of the Egyptian pyramids, which they presented to the class. Some were even edible! Pender County Schools is teaming up with Cape Fear Navigating Change to help spread the word about their survey. This survey is all about Cape Fear Navigating Change 2050, which is a big plan for how residents handle transportation in our region over the next 25 years. The plan looks at things like airplanes, bikes and walking paths, ferries, trains, buses, and roads to make sure they meet our community's needs. Take the survey HERE
South Topsail Elementary School has Been Nominated for the "Tell Us Something Good" Award. Families across the state were invited to nominate their child’s school for the “Tell Us Something Good” AWARD sponsored by the Exceptional Children's Assistance Center (ECAC). The C.F. Pope PTO will be sponsoring our Fall Festival Friday, November 17 from 5:30-8:30. Join us for the crowning of King and Queen of C.F. Pope Elementary, games, vendors, food trucks and more. A Candy War is going on between classes to provide candy for prizes and goodies during the Fall Festival. The class that has the most candy by Thursday, November 16 at 3:00 p.m. will win a class party sponsored by PTO on Friday, November 17. The teacher of the winning class will receive a Texas Roadhouse gift card and students will receive a FREE kid's meal card.
HTHS and PHS have challenged each other to a food drive competition! The food drive will take place from 11/7 from 11/17. All collected items will be donated to Pender Christian Services. The school with the most pounds of donations will be named "the best in the west!"
