Baseball
Baseball finished 21-6 on the year and advanced to the Division 1 District Semifinals. US earned signature wins over Walsh Jesuit, Saint Edward, and Mentor during the regular season. Serving as team captains were Riley Penn '25, Joey Zigman '25, and Aaron Moss '26.
"My time playing baseball at US has been an experience I wouldn’t trade for the world. The bonds I have formed with players from six different classes and our amazing coaches are ones that I will never forget. The time that the staff sacrifices every day for us doesn’t go unnoticed, and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of mentors for my time at US. They truly helped turn the program around, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for US Baseball." - Joey Zigman '24
Lacrosse
Lacrosse advanced to the Division 2 State Semifinals after defeating Chagrin Falls in the Regional Championship for the second consecutive year. Seniors Nico Alvarez, Preston Blue, Duke Brennan, and Julian Guirguis served as team captains.
"I couldn’t have asked for a better team, better coaches, or a better season to close out my senior year. When we started this season, we were uncertain on how we would perform. We ended the year having the only undefeated season in program history while bringing US Lacrosse back to the final four. This was an awesome feeling, something I will never forget, and I got to do it with a group of guys that I love."
Tennis
Tennis faced a highly-competitive regular season schedule and advanced to the District Final of the OTCA Tournament. Dean Kirchick '24 advanced to the OHSAA State Championship in singles while Vishwum Kapadia '25, Rohit Talasila '25, Cole Kirchick '25, and Lucas Weidenbecher '25 advanced in doubles play. Seniors Cole and Dean Kirchick served as team captain.
"Being on the US Tennis team these past four years has been an unforgettable experience. Our coaches and teammates have constantly pushed each other, and as a result of this hard work and dedication, we’ve had two top-three finishes in the State Team Tournament during my time on the team. I’ve made so many great memories, and I look forward to seeing this team’s continued success in the future."
Track & Field
Track & Field had an outstanding season, highlighted by the 4x100m relay breaking the school record on Senior Day vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary. Several athletes advanced to the Division 1 District and Regional Championships, respectively. The team was led by captains Josiah Howard '25, Andrew Merritt '25, Will Outcault '25, and Sam Slesh '25.
"The way our team reacted in the face of adversity was unlike any other team I've known. We never complained about what was out of our hands. Instead, every single member of our team focused on what he could control and made sure that it was being done to the best of his ability. Because of this, one of the smallest schools in Division I was able to forget its disadvantage and succeed against the biggest and best of Ohio."
