Top 5 Things to Know About the UVM Libraries:

1. There are three library buildings, but we are one team of research and academic-support experts.

Howe is the largest library and located on central campus. It is home to many UVM Libraries' services and resources (from many subject librarians to our Center for Multimedia Development tech sandbox, tech equipment loans, the UVM Sound and Vision Studio and the Writing Centers. It's also a great place to collaborate with friends, professors and classmates, or find a quiet study spot.

Just a short walk east of Howe (toward the medical center) is Dana Health Sciences Library.

The Libraries' health sciences librarians can be found here for research assistance in any of the university's health-related majors, or to steer you toward the right tool to answer clinical questions. Dana is also a great place to study.

Silver Special Collections Library is located in Billings Library (UVM's original library building). Billings faces the UVM Green, but the most direct access to Silver is at the back Billings entrance.

The Special Collections Library is home to UVM's rare book collection, the Vermont research collection and the university's archives. The greater Billings study spaces and the Silver reading room are open to visitors who want to learn more about us, get to know the librarians there, or find a quiet place to study.

2. There is a librarian for every subject.

This individual can provide research and classroom support for the things you need help with.

3. Library staff members are highly available.

You can email, chat, text or stop by our reference desks. You can also make appointments or call. We have many librarians and research specialists who are eager to work with you and support your work.
