Dear Families, Friends, Students and Staff.
We've just one more week to go before an enticing two-week half term lies before us. Before that, some 32 students are heading off to Spain for three nights from Tuesday. My thanks to the staff who will be accompanying them, I know from previous experience that it's a very tough job looking after other people's children in another country! However I am sure our students will be the very best ambassadors for Canbury and I am looking forward to hearing all about it upon their return.
Today we saw red - but in a good way only. Our thanks to everyone who got behind the 'Show Racism the Red Card' day, which was an awareness day reminding us all that racism is ALWAYS a bad idea and we need to work hard at stamping it out. We had an interesting array of red in school today! Please do talk to your child about the message they took home. It was also an appropriate day for Mrs Littler to present her Black History month assembly, ably supported by Head Students Reenie and Morgan.
It was a pleasure to meet parents of our new joiners on Monday this week. My thanks to you all for turning out and to staff who extended their working day to accommodate it.
Best wishes.
Mrs Rich – Head.

Photographers and drawers - it's easy for the Art teacher to look like he's busy.
Mr Brinkmanis has had a busy week, much of it in the rain on Tuesday when he took his GCSE photography students to the sculpture park. Despite the rain, they reported back that a good time was had by all, with some very impressive photography work being done to boot.
Meanwhile, back in the warm and dry, Year 7s have been busy exploring observational drawing techniques. Here we have bottle drawings from Ella (top) and Max (bottom). Inspired by the work of recycling artist Mark Powell, other students drew birds on old paper texts. Higher up in Year 8, students investigated mono printing. The blue prints are works by Layla, Danai, Lexi, Josef, Olivia, Jerusha, Oliver, Hattie and Sofia B. Well done everyone.
