WLC VB FAQ SERIES: OUR CAMPUS & MILWAUKEE COMMUNITY

WLC Volleyball's Mission: "A family of young women who courageously, confidently, and humbly chase excellence by daily choosing love & faithfulness"

Real estate agents talk about ‘location, location, location’ and we know the same is true for where you attend college. Whether you are from Wisconsin or across the country, we want to highlight why we love the Milwaukee area and WLC's location, location, location.

Small campus + big city = perfect combo

You will have a close-knit, family-friendly feel on campus. Class sizes are small, so the professors and students are able to work one-on-one if needed and you are not just another person in the seat.

Not only that, but you will be cared for and loved on from top-to-bottom - it's not just our program and coaches that teach, foster, and exhibit a servant-leadership mindset, that is the mission of our entire school and seen every day in our quad outside.

There are many amenities, resources, and entertainment options that the city provides. Just some of the opportunities that you can experience here are: our dual degree programs, Froedtert Medical Partnership, many internship opportunities, a lively downtown with entertainment options such as the zoo, professional sports teams (Milwaukee Brewers & Bucks), Public Market, art museum, Lake Michigan, and plenty of malls and shopping locations.

Check out how close we are to downtown and Lake Michigan!

You don't care for the BIG big city of Milwaukee? That's ok! We are situated on the city lines of Milwaukee and Wauwatosa - a quaint, cute suburb that has a bunch of fun flair, shops, and restaurants, too.

Res Life

WLC has state-of-the-art, nationally ranked, and spacious dorms. These dorms will make you feel not just at home and safe, but also spoiled! We boast the #1 residence halls in Wisconsin and #6 in the nation.

A great part about our amazing dorms is that two-thirds of our students live on campus which means that there is always something to do with fellow students. Our season does get busy, but we encourage - and our student-athletes enjoy - getting involved in other campus groups. There are over 50 student programming and campus organizations and clubs to get involved in and a very active "Warrior Events Board" that is always hosting different, fun events for our student body.

Who to room with?

When it comes to roommates, as coaches we do not have any requirements. It is a personal preference to live with a teammate, friend, other athlete, or go in blind. That said, we typically recommend living with another student-athlete while being suitemates with a volleyball player - the best of both worlds in creating some space and getting to know another set of teammates and friends.

state of the art facilities

We compete and train in the Recreation Complex or "REX." Our state-of-the-art, air-conditioned gym features 3 full courts, track lanes, and video boards. Dimming the lights on our side courts during matches creates a unique, 'in-the-spotlight' feel for our student-athletes with a great game-day atmosphere.

In addition to the gym, we use our Sports Performance Center (SPC) for strength and conditioning training. It features a 30-yard turf, 18 weight-racks, a batting cage, and a plethora of training equipment to help us train at a high level.

We have also put a lot of resources into updating our locker room and making it a home-away-from-home for our team.

Safety

We understand that as you head off to college as a young female, safety is an incredibly important top priority. Our public safety department is on call 24/7 and they provide frequent safety checks, updates, and reminders to ensure our campus students, faculty, staff, and greater community are safe, protected, and staying vigilant.

Along with public safety, we have RA’s and RC’s on duty at all times, ensuring there is always someone down the hall to help if there is an emergency. And God-forbid it is a bigger emergency, Froedtert and Children's Hospital are right across the street.

If you're interested in more specific information on campus safety, you are welcome to check out our public Annual Security Report or Public Safety sites online.

We are situated in a very unique location and love what our campus and greater community has to offer! Most importantly, we want you to know that you will be looked after and cared for as a member of our Warriors family.

We encourage you to come on a visit soon so that you can see our great community for yourself, and so that we can continue to expand upon how we will mentor, guide, and care for you as a future Warrior and part of our family.
