Being Saved ✝️ What it really means

What does it mean to be SAVED?

What does God want to save us from? Mark 2:17 in the Bible says that Jesus came for the sinners not the righteous. “When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Think of it like this: Jesus is the doctor and he needs the sick to heal. The bible tells us that sin is that sickness, Jesus wants to save us from our sins. Sin is the sickness that has taken over the world. “And the inhabitant will not say, “I am sick”; The people who dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity.” Isaiah 33:24. Iniquity is a perversion of the truth and a twisted attitude that premeditates and makes plans to commit sin. Iniquities are second nature tendencies that drive us to repeatedly commit sin and defile our character. Jesus not only wants to rid of sin individually but God wants to remove sin once and for all. He wants to destroy sin, wickedness, evil things that are against him. In John 1:29 John says; 29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” God not only saves us from our sins, but also from the wrath of God. Romans 5:6-11 says; “Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!”

Sin is the problem

Truth is we are all sick and filled with sin. Ask yourself this: are you able to stand in front of God blameless? Have you not lied before? Even a small lie? Have you never stolen something? Even something small? We can tell ourselves that none of that matters and we are a “good person” but the truth is we make plans to lie, we make plans to steal, we make plans to hate, we make plans to sin against God and one another. Bible says we have ALL fallen short of the glory of God, none is perfect, not one except for Jesus Christ.

The wages of sin is death

God came down from paradise a place without sin and gave the world himself in the form of a man to save us from his wrath and our sins. (John 1:14, 1 Timothy 3:16, Colossians 2:9) He hung on a cross for three days then defeated death by resurrecting from the dead so we may be given everlasting life like him. God gave us a choice everlasting life or death. If we choose to give our life to Christ which is this: Believe that Jesus died for your sins and arose three days later. Accept him as your savior and repent for your sins. Now accepting him means walking as he did, being reborn, dying to your sin daily, resisting sin not by yourself but by the power of the Holy Spirit. Having your sins forgiven and covered. You are not saved by your good deeds but by Jesus Christ being in you, you could be as Christ is, made worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven. A citizen of Heaven and a stranger to the world set apart! Christ is the only way, not religion, and not good deeds but Jesus Christ alone. If you have conviction in your heart that is God speaking to your inner soul respond to him with a prayer, ask to be forgiven, ask for a new heart that will allow Jesus in and sin out and let God take over. Truth is you will never be perfect but you can be made perfect in the eyes of God for following Jesus Christ.

Religion vs. Jesus

Romans 10:9 Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

“Jesus did not come into the world to start another religion. The world has more than enough religions. He came to complete the work of God in redeeming sinful mankind (Galatians 4:4). He came to defeat our enemy, Satan (Genesis 3:15; John 12:31). He came to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10). He came to fulfill the righteous requirements of the law (Matthew 5:17). He came to establish a new covenant between God and mankind (Mark 14:24). He came “to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good” (Titus 2:14). Christianity is the result of Christ’s finished work of salvation, and He now builds His church (Matthew 16:18). Christianity is not a religion in this sense: religion is man’s attempt to reach up to God, but Christianity teaches that God has reached down to man. The Son of God, the second Person of the Trinity, took on human flesh and, during His time on earth, was literally God reaching out to us (John 1:14; 3:16–18)."
