Moments Frozen In Time Digital Photography Fall 24' by Trevor Blow

Back at Home

This photograph was taken back where I was born. The vision behind the piece is to create the same sense or serenity and peace that I, the author feel given that this is where I grew up. The simple beach chair and it's roots planted in the same rough sand that my sensitive feet used to run in. The crashing waves impose a sense of chaos in the midst of the calm foreground. You can taste the saltiness of the ocean and feel the seashells poking at your toes all through the press of a button.

Live In the Moment

The main focal point being the young man sitting towards the front of a boat is so much more than it seems. You can see the phone in the boys hand, but he's not looking at it. Instead he is taking in the peacefulness and fresh air of the gorgeous scene. There is an unsaid but very loud message in this piece of art, which is to just put the distractions down and live in God's beautiful creation, not live in your head.

What's the Color in Your Life?

This work of art can mean so many different things to people. At first, you are greeted with the realization that some of the photo is colored and some of the photo is grayscale. This is purposeful, with I, the author, making it this way because this delivers a strong message. This shows that cooking, is the highlight of this man's day. It brings color to his day, whether he had a good or bad day. He is trying new things, as if he's testing like a scientist in a lab. He delivers his golden recipe through the door like a waiter bringing his dishes to the customers.

A Mixture and Some Color

A collage of 3 photos with a common theme, yet different composure. Starting from the top you are punched in the face with vibrant colors, tons of lines, and communities of bubbles. Your eyes follow a line almost like it was planned, as it reads the word "oil", hinting at the magicians secret. The second and third piece were created using the same method, but different composure. Some smaller bubbles, some bigger, and some in the middle. This work of art goes to show that with something simple like a little mixture and some color, you can hypnotize the eye.

Action Through a Still Shot

This second collage of oil and water photos, only prove the point of how amazing things can look through perspectives. The lines, waves, and lemons are all brilliantly distorted through something as simple as H2O. They all tend to guide the eye around the perfect circles made behind the scenes, then into the professionalism of how they clash with the playful background. This piece means to me something as simple as anything can never be too simple.

Not Simple Nor Complex

Like TV's in the 1900's, like that saying your parents used to say, black and white. Sure there is a scientific explanation as to why the fence is seen as upside down through the glass, but what the reader is here for is the artwork. It takes the readers mind to a more simple state, where they arent guessing exactly what shade of blue the sky is, but instead seeing how the grays fade into the whites, and how those fade into black.

"Whoa my eye is so big!"

Just another moment frozen in time where the message is nothing more than have fun. The little boy in the picture is putting his eye up to the glass, seeing if it has the same effect as those funky glasses the cartoon characters would wear. The composure puts the subject in the middle, but that's not where the eye stays. The vibrant spectrum of colors tricks the mind into having some fun and putting themselves back to their early childhood.

2 Colors, Infinite Words

Red and Blue. Sure it might seem simple but thats the point. We are met with this crazy look, but calming feeling. This piece reminds me of the saying "1 picture, 1000 words." It's like the outside world was captured into this tiny wine glass. The wonders of the sky, unexplored depths of space, and beasts of the mountains, all turned into 2 colors, yet infinite words.

The Eye

The eye captured in this photo belongs to my innocent and helpful little brother, who's eyes are complemented everywhere we go. Behind the screen there's readers saying "that doesn't look real" and that's because it is hand colored. This only goes to show how complex every detail of the human body is, considering I couldn't quite capture the beauty of the eye. The message behind this photograph is that your body is so cool and so much different from everyone else's, so be happy.

Brown is more than brown

This triptych, although hard to comprehend at first, follows a theme of the color brown, in different forms. The first picture depicts brown as the countertop you always made your lunch on, or the marble finish you helped make dinner with your mom on. The second picture depicts the color as that distinct taste you would find in your home made dishes. That bottle of peppercorn you never remember picking up from the store. The third, the natural luscious curls that hold memories stronger than the brain. This piece was so much fun to make and only goes to show that there is so much more that what you are met with on this photograph.

Raw pasta

You can taste the crunch and crackle of the sharp uncooked pasta sitting in the box. This artwork just captures a close up example of how much detail everything has. My goal with this piece was to have the reader interpret this in their own way. They could look at it whatever way made sense to them and believe that that was my intention.

Touch it through the screen

Smooth yet bumpy is this peach. The crusty brown stem contrasts the fresh, untouched peach. This piece of work captures the tiny detail the eye misses. Its hard to graze over the individual little dots, because they are so close up that its like a new sight to the viewer. My intention with this piece was to also capture the little details of life. The imperfection of the peach versus the perfection of the taste.

Who put the straw in strawberry

Despite the wonder of the name "strawberry", there is nothing not to love about this fruit. My intention with this shot was to capture the juiciness and deliciousness of your everyday strawberry, and just make you crave it more. I wanted to capture the distinct different between the slightly crunchy seeds and the soft and chewy berry. You can taste the perfection through the click of a button.
