Welcome to QRA Weekly
It's hard to believe it's the last week of the half term! The February half term is the half-way point of the academic year. It's absolutely flying by!
The big event this week has undoubtedly been our Year 5 and Year 6 residential. It looks as if they've had a brilliant week, and they're on their way back as I type this. Having spoken to the staff a few times this week, it sounds as if they have been absolutely brilliant. They will have all gained such crucial experiences that are difficult to get through school provision, not least staying away from home for a few nights! I imagine there'll be a lot of sleepy children tonight, and a lot of parents relieved to have them back. A huge well done to everyone, and a big thank you to the staff for taking time away from their own families to faciliate the experience. A half-term break well earned!
A big well done, too, to the Year 5s and Year 6s who were in school and have adapted to the provision we've put in place. They have taken part in an art initiative throughout the week based on street art and graffiti. It's been a big adjustment for them this week, combining in to one class, but they've been brilliant.
Elsewhere, it's been a fantastic week across school - I've given out stickers and rewards for brilliant pieces of writing and maths that have blown me away! If your child has come home with a Headteacher Award sticker, it means they've been brought to me for an exceptional piece of work. It's so important to recognise the good work done across school, and on that subject, I'm happy to say that we have had more than 1200 Dojo points awarded this week for Being Kind, Aiming High and Discovering something new. Not bad to say we've had a class-worth of children missing this week!
I hope everybody has a lovely half-term break. We will see you when we reopen on Monday 24th February.
Mr Smith
Please remember as well that lateness is a vital part of attendance.
So far this year, a total of 9271 minutes of learning has been lost across school due to lateness. This equates to 154 hours, or 25 school days, or five full weeks of lost learning! Much of this time will be reading and phonics, which is the vital focus of learning and indeed underpins all learning.
