LPA Newsletter Friday 11th July 2025

Mr Kirby, Principal and Mrs Jones, Executive Principal
Lodge Park Academy Newsletter - Week 6, Summer Term

Dear Families,

As we head into the final weeks of the summer term, Lodge Park Academy has once again been filled with energy, ambition, and a strong sense of community. This week has been packed with inspiring events and meaningful experiences for students across the academy.

We were delighted to host a series of powerful assemblies on Aspiration and Sport, delivered by Emily Morgan. Her sessions encouraged students to reflect on their goals and consider the role that dedication and resilience play both in sport and in life. These messages were timely and motivational as we continue to nurture a culture of high aspiration throughout the academy.

Students have also been engaging with contextual PSHCE lessons focused on healthy lifestyles. These sessions have given pupils the opportunity to explore the importance of physical and mental wellbeing, empowering them to make informed choices and develop lifelong healthy habits.

A special highlight of the week was the DRET Musician of the Year Event, held at Nottingham Trent University. Several of our talented students represented Lodge Park Academy, showcasing their musical skills in front of a wider audience. We are incredibly proud of their performances and the dedication they have shown to their craft.

Finally, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming our new Year 6 students for two wonderful days of transition. It was fantastic to see them embrace the opportunity to experience academy life, meet staff and fellow students, and take their first steps on their secondary school journey. We also welcomed Year 6 parents into the academy to discuss plans for the upcoming academic year — it was lovely to meet so many of you and begin building these vital partnerships.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to all that the final weeks of term will bring

Warm regards,
Lodge Park Academy Leadership Team

Join Our Seneca Learning Community – Support Your Child’s Learning at Home

We are delighted to invite all parents and carers to join the Lodge Park Academy Seneca Learning Community at www.senecalearning.com. This is a powerful tool that allows you to support your child in completing additional learning outside the classroom – helping to reinforce key concepts and prepare for assessments.

If you have not yet accessed your child’s Seneca account, you will have received a new invitation from us to join. We kindly ask for your support in accepting this invitation and becoming part of our growing community.

Why is this important?

With over 450 parents and students already actively engaged, and more than 110,000 hours of student learning recorded across this academic year, Seneca has proven to be an incredibly successful platform – especially in Science, Geography, and History. As we prepare for the 2025/26 academic year, we are aiming to develop this further, building on the momentum and positive outcomes we’ve seen so far.

How can you help?

Please ensure your child can access their Seneca account at senecalearning.com. If they have trouble logging in using their school email address, they can easily reset their password by selecting ‘forgotten password’ on the login page.

By joining our Seneca Learning Community, you will not only receive insights into your child’s progress but also gain the ability to support their independent learning more effectively.

We appreciate your continued support and will keep you updated with further developments as we approach the end of the academic year.

Together, let’s continue to build a culture of independent learning and academic success at Lodge Park Academy.

Thank you in advance for your support

Table Talk

We have recently enjoyed two sporting events, Sports day and the Summer cup. Sports day contributes to the House Championship, culmination of a year’s worth of house events. We try our best to foster competition but in doing so we want students to be able to show respect, one of our key values.

Heads of House talked to students about showing respect during Sports day to each other and to opponents and we saw that in the applause and congratulations that were shared.

Sport is a great setting to learn about respect and to start to generate a conversation with teenagers about it, because sport involves valuing oneself, others, and the rules and officials of the game, promoting fair play, and fostering a positive sporting environment. It encompasses treating opponents with dignity, accepting decisions, and celebrating achievements together.

This picture epitomises respect in sport. After one of the hardest fought and close Ashes series in years. Australia and England met at Egbaston in the 2nd test. Australia were chasing 275 to win and got down to Australia needing 15 to win and England 1 wicket, with 3 to win England got the wicket they needed. Brett Lee the batter in the picture had hit an unbeaten 43 and was devastated, Andrew Flintoff had taken 4 wickets to secure victory. This picture just shows the respect that both had for each other and the game and has become the picture to illustrate the spirit of the game.

Maybe talk about some of the examples of respect you have seen or witnessed in sport or life and discuss with your teenagers

Why We Do What We Do......

For Sports Day we encourage students to wear the colour of their House to feel an affiliation and sense of belonging to the event for their House whether they are participating or not.

DRET Summer Cup Success!

We’re incredibly proud of the 90 students who represented the school last Thursday at the 2025 DRET Summer Cup! Competing across Athletics, Tennis, Table Tennis, Boccia, and Swimming, our students displayed fantastic talent, dedication, and sportsmanship.

Our teams brought home an impressive 26 medals, with standout performances across the board. A huge congratulations to the Year 7, 8, and 9 girls’ relay teams, who all secured medals in their events—a fantastic achievement that reflects their hard work and teamwork.

We also celebrate two outstanding individual victories on the track: Kasey claimed Gold in the 800m, and Millie stormed to Gold in the 1500m.

A special thank you to our young leaders who supported the event brilliantly behind the scenes. Everyone involved was a credit to the Academy — Well Done!
