Intention Statement

Over the next twelve months of my Mastery Journey at Full Sail University, my intention is to develop a deeper level of expertise in sports entertainment business strategy, leadership, and brand development. I aim to refine my ability to create and execute marketing campaigns, manage large-scale esports events, and design sponsorship proposals that bring measurable value to both partners and organizations. By the end of this program, I want to emerge as a well-rounded leader who can confidently navigate both the creative and operational sides of the esports industry.

One of my primary goals is to enhance my strategic decision-making and leadership skills by applying classroom concepts to real-world projects within my work at X-Element Gaming. I plan to leverage tools such as data analytics, project management systems, and financial forecasting to ensure the growth and sustainability of events and teams. Additionally, I intend to strengthen my industry network by building relationships with professionals, sponsors, and thought leaders who share my passion for competitive gaming.

I recognize that challenges will be part of this journey—whether in time management, balancing academic demands with professional responsibilities, or adapting to evolving industry trends. My plan is to face these challenges with persistence, curiosity, and adaptability. By setting clear, actionable goals and consistently reflecting on my progress, I will ensure that my Mastery Journal becomes more than an assignment—it will be a record of growth, resilience, and achievement that I can look back on as a roadmap for my future success.

Leadership

My Leadership Style

🎯 Purpose and Branding Intent

The goal of this asset is to build credibility, identity, and attraction to my professional value. Rather than simply listing skills or achievements, the Mastery Journal demonstrates:

  • Strategic thinking
  • Leadership progression
  • Real-world esports experience
  • Operational expertise managing teams and organizations
  • Adaptability and professional maturity
  • A clear understanding of both player culture and organizational needs

Why I Choose Maxwell Leadership is a journey that shapes how we influence others and achieve success.

Throughout this course, I’ve explored two very different frameworks: John C. Maxwell’s Developing the Leader Within You and Robert Greene’s The 48 Laws of Power. While both provide valuable insights, I’ve realized that my personal leadership style aligns most closely with Maxwell’s philosophy of ethical influence, mentorship, and people development. Maxwell teaches that leadership is not about titles or power—it’s about attitude, trust, and developing others. His statement that “everything rises and falls on leadership” reminds me that success depends on how leaders serve and inspire their teams (Maxwell, 2005).

Greene’s strategies often focus on power dynamics and tactical advantage. While useful in competitive business or politics, they feel less authentic to my values. I naturally gravitate toward building trust, supporting growth, and leading with empathy, which is why Maxwell’s people-first approach feels natural. In my career goals, particularly in the esports and gaming industry, team cohesion and trust are critical. A leader who prioritizes empowerment and respect can elevate morale and performance. By embracing Maxwell’s framework,

I can:

• Mentor team members to grow personally and professionally

• Foster positive culture where collaboration thrives

• Lead authentically with integrity and long-term vision Maxwell’s philosophy allows me to lead ethically, build meaningful relationships, and cultivate a team environment where everyone thrives.

As I continue to develop in my career, I intend to strengthen these skills, using Maxwell’s principles as a guide for impactful and sustainable leadership. Reference Maxwell, J. C. (2005). Developing the Leader Within You. Thomas Nelson.

Leading with ethical influence, mentorship, and positive team culture creates long-lasting impact. For Legion of Doom Esports, this approach ensures that players are empowered, teams are cohesive, and the organization achieves sustained success.

“Growth, Insight & Application: My Reflection on Sports Management & Operations”

During this course, I set a personal goal to strengthen my understanding of how the sports and entertainment industries operate behind the scenes, from management and licensing to operations, digital strategy, and career pathways. Looking back, I feel that this course not only met my expectations, but exceeded them by helping me connect academic concepts directly to my passions in esports, gaming, and sports business. One of the most valuable things I learned was how interconnected the different areas of sports management truly are. Whether discussing facility operations, revenue streams, sponsorship strategy, or digital fan engagement, each topic reinforced how successful sports organizations operate as a complete ecosystem. Understanding concepts like rights management, media contracts, and operational planning helped me view the sports industry beyond the surface of competition and recognize the complex structure that allows teams, leagues, and athletes to thrive. A topic that especially resonated with me was the evolving role of digital media and the way organizations leverage platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and streaming services to expand reach, monetize content, and increase fan loyalty. This stood out to me because it aligns directly with the esports industry and my future career path. Ferreira and Armstrong (2022) emphasize how digital engagement now plays as critical a role as traditional revenue channels, and throughout this course, I’ve seen that reflected in real-world case studies and league strategies. This course also shaped how I view my future in the esports industry. While my goal to build and expand esports organizations hasn’t changed, my approach has. I now think more strategically about operations, licensing, sponsorship structures, and long-term sustainability rather than only competition and branding. Moving forward, I will apply what I’ve learned to develop more professional operational systems in my esports work, strengthen sponsorship proposals, and make more informed business decisions. Overall, this course gave me clarity, confidence, and a blueprint for advancing my career in sports, entertainment, and esports.

Entertainment Business Finance

Mastery Journal: Course Reflection and Professional Application

When I began this course, my primary objective was to gain a clearer, more practical understanding of how financial concepts apply to creative and entertainment-based businesses. Coming from an esports and content creation background, I was confident in branding, strategy, and audience engagement, but less confident in the financial frameworks that support long-term sustainability. This course not only met those objectives, but exceeded them by reshaping how I think about decision-making, planning, and risk in a professional context. One of the most valuable takeaways from this course was learning how financial tools such as cost structures, revenue streams, break-even analysis, and pro forma income statements function together rather than in isolation. Previously, I viewed financial planning as something reactive or administrative. Through the coursework, I now understand it as a strategic discipline that informs nearly every major business decision. Building financial models forced me to think critically about assumptions, scalability, and opportunity cost, especially within entertainment ventures where revenue can fluctuate and growth is rarely linear. Another important lesson was learning how to translate creative ideas into financially viable business models. Whether evaluating sponsorships, content monetization, or competitive esports operations, I learned how to assign realistic values to ideas and measure their long-term impact. This was especially relevant when developing projections for my own esports organization, where balancing passion-driven goals with financial discipline is essential. Professionally, this course has strengthened my confidence as a leader. I now feel better equipped to communicate with partners, sponsors, and investors using informed financial language rather than intuition alone. Personally, it has helped me become more intentional about planning, budgeting, and evaluating trade-offs, both in business and in my own career development. Overall, this course provided a strong foundation in financial literacy tailored to the entertainment industry. It reinforced the idea that creativity and finance are not opposing forces, but complementary tools. Mastery of both is essential for sustainable success, and this course has moved me significantly closer to that goal.

Mastery Journal – Digital Marketing Strategy & Leadership Growth

When I began this Digital Marketing Strategy course, my original Mastery goal was to learn how to translate creative vision and esports leadership into measurable, sustainable business growth. As the CEO of Legion of Doom Esports, I already understood branding, community, and competition, but I wanted a stronger foundation in how digital marketing systems could support long-term organizational success. My goal was not simply to learn tools, but to learn how to think strategically about audiences, campaigns, and data. This goal was met in meaningful ways throughout the course. From early lessons on market research and brand positioning to later modules on integrated marketing, content strategy, budgeting, and KPIs, the course provided a structured way to connect creativity with analytics. I learned how to identify target audiences using demographic and psychographic data, how to position a brand in a competitive landscape, and how to build campaigns that support either awareness or sales objectives (Chaffey & Ellis-Chadwick, 2019). This framework directly supports my work in esports, where community growth, sponsorship interest, and fan loyalty are driven by consistent and data-informed digital marketing. One of the most valuable lessons I gained from this course was the importance of integrated marketing communications. I now better understand how social media, websites, email, SEO, and even traditional marketing must work together to reinforce a single brand message. In esports, fragmented messaging can weaken credibility, but when all channels tell the same story, organizations appear more professional and trustworthy. I also learned how to define key performance indicators and use analytics tools such as Google Analytics and social platform insights to track whether marketing efforts are actually working. Professionally, I will apply this knowledge by building stronger campaigns for Legion of Doom Esports. Instead of relying on instinct alone, I can now design content calendars, allocate marketing budgets, and evaluate performance using real data. Personally, this course also strengthened my confidence as a leader. I am better equipped to communicate my vision, justify marketing investments, and make decisions based on measurable outcomes rather than guesswork. Overall, this course helped transform how I think about digital marketing. It provided me with the strategic foundation needed to grow not only my organization, but also my own professional brand in the esports industry.
