Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
I do hope that you had a pleasant Whit break with your families and are ready for the final half term of the year, which promises to be a busy one.
The children have returned to school positively this week and are settled back into school routines. The final half term of the academic year is always an exciting one, with many looking forward to the range of exciting summer activities we have in school and others looking forward to the long summer break.
Phase 2 of the building work continues to progress well and we are finding our feet in the new building, which really is an outstanding resource for us all. The children have made a great transition to the new building and classrooms and we aim, this half term, to build on familiarising ourselves with all the new build has to offer. We are restricted in some ways with outdoor space, but continue to utilise sporting and other spaces available to us in the local area, to ensure we are able to fulfil the curriculum objectives.
With a hint of sadness we are preparing to say ‘goodbye’ to some of our pupil leavers in late-June and to staff who will leave before the summer break. We are busy planning for these events to celebrate the contributions made by all, over many years, to the SJV community.
We are also now making plans for the final weeks of this academic year and are busy pupil report writing; we have started this week the compilation of the summer (annual) report. The reports take considerable time to write and collate and we aim to have them with you in the second week of July. The reports will help identify the achievements made in all subjects and in the wider areas of the curriculum by your child throughout their year at School.
We are also planning on a number of events for pupils to mark the end of this year in school and these include;
- June 27th Leavers’ Mass and Celebration at 13:40pm
- July 14th Class end of year Trips
- July 16th End of Year Mass 9.30am and 11.15am
Can I remind you please that School closes for the summer break on Friday, July 18th at 1.30pm. We have informed transport teams already of this earlier finish. We will then reopen to pupils on Tuesday, 2nd September at 9.00am. Monday 1st September is an INSET day for staff.
Best wishes for the week ahead.
Mr A Moloney, Headteacher

It is wonderful to be back and I hope you had a great half term; I cannot believe we are now starting our last half term before the summer holidays. This year has gone so fast, and so much has changed! We at SJV are looking forward to lots of lovely events as we spend our final seven weeks together of this academic year.
Within our Catholic school this week, representatives of our school Chaplaincy team joined other Chaplaincy teams from across Salford Diocese to celebrate Pentecost, at The Spiritan Centre. It was a lovely day and they represented the school so well at this special event.
The Chaplaincy team are busy preparing for three big events;
- ‘Come Dine With Us’ - displaced people are invited to share a meal with us.
- Our Leavers' Service at the end of June - a celebration of our leavers amongst staff, peers and family.
- Our End of Year Services - a whole school celebration and Mass to end the academic year.
A very busy few weeks for us, lots of wonderful ideas and suggestions have been generated by our GIFT/ chaplaincy team.
Within RE this week we have been looking at religion in the wider world. We have been looking at artefacts connected to each religion; Key Stage 3 and 4 are looking at Islam and Key Stage 5 are studying Sikhism.

Poetry Corner
This week in poetry news we are throwing the spotlight on emerging Autistic Poet Matthew J Fowler, he hopes his work will dispel myths about autism, and says writing poems about neurodiversity has helped him gain a greater understanding of his condition.
Matthew J Fowler, from Derby, has published his work in an anthology and performed some of his poems before a live audience. His work includes a poem about sensory overload and how people with conditions like autism can find background noise in a city centre overwhelming. The poet hopes sharing his work with a wider audience will help dispel myths and challenge preconceptions of the condition. Mr Fowler's poems cover a range of topics, including one about how he was perceived before he was given a formal diagnosis of autism by doctors.
Stories like Matthews’ set a great example to our young poets here at SJV.

We’re Excited to Launch Our New Online Safety Hub!
Supporting the wellbeing of children and young people has never been more important than it is today. Parents, teachers, governments, and policy makers are all working together to ensure that young people are protected from online harms. A child’s digital world plays a powerful role in shaping their overall wellbeing. From the content they view to the people they interact with and the things they share, online activity can offer wonderful opportunities—but it can also present real risks. That’s why we’re proud to announce the launch of our brand-new Online Safety Hub, now live on our school website.
Developed by online safety experts, the Hub is designed to bring our whole school community together around the shared goal of keeping children safe and well online. It offers up-to-date, evidence-based information tailored for all those involved in Children and Young People’s lives.
What’s inside the Hub?
Parents and carers will find a wealth of easy-to-follow resources, including:
- App reviews and safety ratings
- Step-by-step guides for setting parental controls
- Practical advice on key topics such as screen time, gaming, social media, and more
How to access the Hub: Visit our school website, click on the Parent tab, then select E-Safety. We encourage all families to explore the Online Safety Hub and use it as a trusted tool in supporting children’s digital wellbeing.
Let’s work together to keep our children safe, happy, and healthy—both online and offline.
