Weekly Newsletter wEST mEADOWS - 12th july 2024

Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!

What another super busy week in school we have had! This week children have enjoyed transition days in their new classes. We were lucky to be joined by both Miss Harte in Year 1 and Miss Mcsloy in Year 2 and would like to welcome them both to the West Meadows team. We also sent our school reports home this week which I’ve had the pleasure to read. I could not have been prouder of the wonderful comments from the class teachers. Well done to all of our children!

Year 6 Camping Trip - Thank you!

We would like to say a massive thank you to the staff who gave up their own time (and their sleep 😊) to camp out with our Year 6 children! The Year 6 children had an amazing time – and were all up for doing it again the next night! This event gives our children some quality and special time with their friends before they move on to their next adventure and also helps build their confidence and resilience. Thank you to all of the staff who stayed over and a special thank you to Mrs Evans who worked tirelessly to organise it! We could not do it without you.

Sports Day:

This year’s winning teams at sports’ days were:

Year 3 – Blue team

Year 4 – Purple team

Year 5 – Blue team

Year 6 – Yellow team

It was very close for the overall winning team across the school, however this year’s winning team was ‘YELLOW’ team! Children from the winning team (Kerr) will receive a certificate in assembly! Well done to all of the children for taking part.

Summer Fair:

A big thank you to all of those, particularly Mrs Maree and the PTA, for organising this year’s summer fair, as well as the staff at school and Year 6 pupils for organising and running stalls. We would also like to thank our wonderful community for helping us to raise £687.20! Well done all!

Parent Pay Accounts:

Can all parents / families please ensure that all outstanding debts are cleared before the end of next week please including all dinner money debts, breakfast club and any outstanding music tuition.

Euros Final:

We would like to wish the England team good luck in Sunday’s final. I am sure that lots of our children will be excited to watch! We have sent an email to parents letting them know that registration will stay open until 10:30am on Monday so children can come in later if they want to. All staff will be in and breakfast club will run as normal for those that do need it. Good luck England!

Year 6 Leavers' Assembly

We would like to invite the family of our Year 6 pupils to join us in a special leavers’ assembly at 2:00pm on Friday 19th July as we say goodbye to a wonderful set of children and celebrate their time with us at West Meadows. Siblings of Year 6 children who are in school will be allowed to join us if you would like them to as well. We really look forward to seeing you there.

Attendance Matters!

Every Friday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life. We really need your support this year to raise our attendance. If you need any help or support please come and see Mrs Maree. You can see your own child’s attendance for the year and the last 4 weeks on the Arbor App. An attendance of 97% or above is considered to be good attendance.

Last Week's Attendance:

F1 AM (incl 30 hours): 86.4%

F2: 85.8%

Year 1: 94.8%

Year 2: 95.3%

Year 3: 88.6%

Year 4: 95.1%
