The Richmond Primary Academy MARCH newsletter

Principal Update

Message from Vicky Ross, Principal

Who would think that it has been a whole month since we opened the doors as 'The Richmond Primary Academy'. It has simply flown by.

There has been some amazing learning happening, and everyone has been working really hard to achieve the best standard that they can. There has been a real push to make sure that our learning behaviours are outstanding, so we can maximise the learning that can happen - the children have been just superb!

In between all this learning, we have been out and about making links with our new DRET family. We have been attending sporting events, art events and a spectacular performance of Hansel and Gretel at Grimsby Auditorium. More about that below.

Our first day back next term is Tuesday 16th April, which will be our official press launch for the academy. We will be joined by Stuart Burns, CEO of the Trust and Simon Rose, Director of Primary Education to greet children and parents. This will be a very exciting day for us.

Until then, have a wonderful holiday!

Trust News

A variety of different Trust events have taken place in just the last few weeks. Our children have been overjoyed to be involved in these.

Primary Cup (North)

Our children travelled across Lincolnshire to take part in the Trust Primary Cup. We entered a netball team (who came third place) and a football team (who came second place). Overall, after an amazing day, The Richmond came overall second place, which means that they now progress to the Primary Champions Day on Thursday 23rd May - Good Luck to all!

Skegness Grammar School Art and Culture Project

This month, we were also lucky enough to be invited to Skegness Grammar School to take part in an Art and Culture Project with KEVI Spilsby. The children produced the most stunning art work. A big thanks to Mr Sturman and the SGS team for making us feel so welcome.

Primary Music Festival - Hansel and Gretel

It was an absolute pleasure last week, for some of our staff to travel up to Grimsby Auditorium and watch five trust schools perform alongside a live orchestra and opera singers in their version of 'Hansel and Gretel'. Next time, our current Year 4 will be joining in too - we can't wait to share our Richmond talent.

Staff Spotlight

Staff Changes

Come and meet our newest staff member... 'My name is Danielle Harris and I am the Teaching and Learning Lead for the David Ross Education Trust. I am very excited to be working at Richmond Primary Academy for the foreseeable future and getting to know all of the children! I have been a Principal at another school within the Trust, so come to Richmond with a wealth of knowledge to share and I am really excited to work with the staff here. I look forward to meeting you all very soon!'

Class News

Over the coming months, we will be using this section of our newsletter to showcase some of the super learning that is happening in the school. We will also be asking classes to share this with you via our social media site too. Watch this space!

You Said, We Did

Can you make it easier to get uniform...

From September, the uniform will be changing. The first two sweatshirts and PE top will be provided by the Trust, and the uniform trousers, skirts will be grey, the polo shirts will be white - this will make non-branded items easier to find at local shops. We will be hosting a pop-up event in the Summer for new and existing parents to purchase uniform too. We have asked our new supplier to deliver able to deliver directly to parents and to the school - making it much easier to obtain uniform.
