Term 4
There are so many factors which support students making a positive start to term 4 at Kingscliff High School:
- The build is all but complete, leaving us with not only our “tried and true” facilities, but also many fantastic new facilities across the school.
- Lots of dry days over the holidays to get uniforms clean and dry, along with warmer weather eliminating the need for jumpers or jackets. Wearing our uniform correctly and with pride has never been easier..
- Final assessments and report writing for Years 7 to 10 will be underway, with students needing to bring their best efforts to each class.
- Year 11 are beginning their HSC courses.
- 65 sleeps until Christmas.
Open Night
On the subject of our all but completed build, our upcoming Open Night (Tuesday 19 November) will be a great opportunity for our current and prospective families to experience our updated learning environment:
- All of our J Block (ie Maths, HSIE, PE, Big Picture) classrooms now extended.
- New Library
- New CAPA Block
- Updated Food Technology Kitchens
- New PE Pavillion
- Significant landscaping
- Refurbished Admin Block
HSC 2024
Wishing our 2024 Year 12 cohort well as they continue with their final exams. Many thanks to Mr Borg for acting in my absence during their Graduation Assembly at the end of last term. Thanks also to Mrs O’Keeffe for her coordination of what was, by all accounts, an exceptional school community event.
Year 6 into 7 Transition
This is a huge moment in any young person’s life and so continues to be a strong focus at Kingscliff high School:
Combined Coastal Learning Community Staff Meeting: following our collaborative meetings in Terms 1 and 2, teachers from Kingscliff High School, Cudgen Public School, Kingscliff Public School, Bogangar Public School, Pottsville Beach Public School and Fingal Head Public School will again gather in Week 4 to continue our collaboration in supporting student transition across our schools
All families of Year 7 2025 students have been emailed their information packs for the start of next year.
Year 5 Taster day (26 November) and Year 6 Orientation Day (3 December) are coming up later this term
STEM ‘Eye on the Future’ Challenge
An ongoing and very popular initiative offered to students from Coastal Learning Community schools are the project based days offered as a result of our partnership with STEM Industry School Partnerships, coordinated by Mr Wiggins. The next instalment is coming up next Friday, 1 November, the Eye on the Future Challenge. Highlights will include not only student projects, but also the Qld Government Hydrogen Car and the Southern Cross University Kombi.
Looking forward to another great day.
P&C
Our next meeting is tonight, Monday 21 October from 6:00pm both in our Front Office Meeting Room and online via Teams. All parents and carers are welcome.
Wishing all of our families a great week.

2024 VALID - Year 8 Science Diagnostic Test
Year 8 students will be participating in the mandatory VALID Science diagnostic test during Term 4, Weeks 3 and 4.
A letter for parents and carers was sent home with students in Term 4, Week 1 with specific details about the test - these are also attached to this newsletter. The test dates for each class have been communicated on Sentral daily notices and by Science teachers. Catch-up sessions will be done for students who are absent on the scheduled test day.
The test will be completed using iPads, so students are asked to ensure their iPad is fully charged for the test day. Students who do not have an iPad will have access to other devices to complete the test. Students are also encouraged to bring their earbuds/earphones for the test - these are not supplied by the school.
Please contact Mrs O’Keeffe, HT Science, if you have any questions.
For the attention of all Year 11 2024 families
As we enter Term 4, 2024, the HSC course has now officially commenced for all Year 11 students as they transition into Year 12 2025.
An email has been sent to all Year 11 2024 families last week, with regards to the HSC 2025. Please contact the school if you did not receive the email.

Schools Spectacular Dance students will be selling numbers on a 100s board this week to raffle a 10kg block of Cadbury chocolate.
It is $2 to buy a square and it will be drawn week 4.
Please find the girls outside the MPU at recess/lunch this week.
We would like to welcome Charlotte Magiera from Germany!
Charlotte has joined Year 10 and is with us until July 2025.
She joins Linnea and Emmy who have returned after a fantastic break.
Welcome Charlotte, we hope you have a wonderful experience at Kingscliff High School.
Bunnings Support
We would like to extend a big thanks to Leah and the team at Bunnings for their generous support in transforming one of our learning spaces into a significant part of our student wellbeing hub. Their contributions, alongside the hard work of dedicated staff members during the school holidays, have been essential in creating an inviting and supportive learning space.

Your differences are your you-ness.
Comparing yourself to others will only take away your happiness. Othering another person for their differences is not okay either.
Mental Health Awareness
This month is Mental Health awareness month and this year's theme is meaningful connections matter.
In Australia, 1 in 5 people are affected by mental ill-health.
Having meaningful connections with others means we're better placed to recognise the signs someone is struggling and check in. The conversation that follows could change a life.
For tips on how to build meaningful connections visit www.worldmentalhealthday.com.au/resources
International Students Program
Kingscliff High School has a wonderful International Students program which brings opportunities for cultural exchange and understanding to all our students.
We’d like to grow our program and are in need of families who are able to look after and guide a young person while they are in our area experiencing Australian life and culture.
If this sounds like you, please use the QR code below to express your interest.
