Palau Martorell in Barcelona showcased an extensive collection of artwork by Colombian artist Fernando Botero. The exhibition featured diverse range of paintings, sculptures, drawings, pastels, and even an immersive experience.
Although Botero is renouned for large bronze sculpture like the cat in Barcelona's Raval neighborhood and the horse at the meeting point in Terminal 2 of the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport, this exhibit focused on smaller sculptures in bronze and quartz.
Botero's drawings exhibit greater detail and texture than his paintings and pastels. Additionally, some of his drawings are remarkably large in comparison to the works of most artists.
Althought many of Botero's works are harsh and politcal in nature, his still-life paintings are light and colorful with a touch of humor.
Fernando Botero spent a lot of time in Spain and as a young adult, he studied in Madrid and was influnced by Spanish artists Goya and Velázquez and admired bullfighting.
