CUT YOUR HEATING COSTS IN HALF AND YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT WITH MAINE ENERGY SYSTEMS' RENEWABLE WOOD PELLET CENTRAL HEAT

OIL = $?! /GAL

WOOD PELLETS = $2.75/GAL OIL EQUIVALENT

In 2010-2014, oil prices began to rise, as fossil fuels have high price volatility, but as you can see in the chart below, pellet prices held firm.
In 2012, it cost about $513 more to fill an average 275 gallon oil tank than it would for the equivalent amount of pellet heat. Over a winter, that adds up.
Wood pellets are primarily made from sawdust, forest residuals, waste or low-grade wood, and byproducts from industries such as lumber, flooring, and furniture; there's no lack of supply of this leftover material, so the price stays stable with time.
Fast forward to 2022 with fuel prices at record highs, and it costs about $944 more to fill the average 275 gallon oil tank than the pellet equivalent - each fill.

THE BASICS OF SWITCHING TO WOOD PELLET HEAT

With fossil fuel pricing uncertain for the future, there's never been a better time to regain independence and switch to pellet heat sourced from our own region and contributing back to our own local economies.
There is currently a Federal Tax Credit available for eligible new installations and state-specific rebates in the thousands for switching to wood pellets.

WHO WE ARE

Headquartered in Bethel, Maine, our primary mission is to support a transition to the use of renewable wood pellet fuel for the heating of homes, businesses, and municipalities. By offering a stably priced carbon-neutral source of heat, Maine Energy Systems keeps home and business owners comfortable with their heat and comfortable in the knowledge that they are being good stewards of our environment. This fuel transition not only lowers costs for users, it also helps retain and create jobs in the region while keeping heating dollars within the regional economy.

Maine Energy Systems (MESys) builds and distributes the world's finest fully-automated wood pellet boilers and furnaces for residential, commercial and industrial use throughout North America. MESys delivers bulk wood pellets to many of the Northeast states.

With #2 fuel oil at record highs, the average New England home could save $38,000 to $60,000 over a 20 year period* by switching to pellet heat.

*20-year savings shown as example; actual warranty is an industry-leading 30-year warranty. These savings are calculated using the payback calculator and rely on averages but will vary based on actual fuel consumption. BULK PELLET DELIVERY

Bulk fuel delivery to your home or business – just like oil or propane. You don’t handle your oil or propane and with our fully automated system, you’ll never touch your pellets either.

Wood pellets are predominantly made from the by-products of other wood manufacturing industries such as flooring, lumber, furniture, and from other waste or low-grade wood not suitable for those industries.

A typical home requires just 3 deliveries annually and pellets are a carbon-neutral fuel source per the US Environmental Protection Agency.

STORAGE SOLUTIONS

There are several different sizes and configurations of FleXILO indoor storage hoppers to suit most basement or boiler room needs. For outdoor storage, a silo is recommended and can be connected to the system seamlessly.

Pellets can be delivered from the FleXILO to the boiler using a vacuum suction system. The vacuum suction system allows the storage hopper to be separated from the boiler by over 60'.

The Northeast burns 85% of the #2 heating oil consumed in the US every year. Less than 25% of every dollar spent on #2 heating oil stays in the region. Nearly 100% of every dollar spent on wood pellets stays right here in the regional economy creating jobs and fueling the local economy.

MEANINGFUL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

The CO2 emitted by using wood pellets for heat comes from CO2 absorbed by the tree during its growth and is as simple as the cycle of photosynthesis. With our high-efficiency burners, this is one of the most non-polluting heating options available. When using wood pellets, you are avoiding burning fossil fuels that release long-sequestered carbon into the atmosphere as CO2, a greenhouse gas. Instead, you are releasing the same amount of energy that the tree or wood residuals would release by rotting or burning. The difference is that you're not squandering this energy - you're using it for heat in a very efficient manner.

Since wood pellets are consumed closer to their production site than fossil fuels less greenhouse gas is generated in their transportation.

Wood pellets are a pure refined wood product; nothing is added to the wood feedstock as they are manufactured. The heat of compression as the fine woody material is forced through a die heats the natural lignin in the wood binding the material into a durable pellet.

Virtually all of the wood pellets produced in the Maine market are made from wood that is certified as sustainably harvested by a third-party agency.

HEAR FROM A HOMEOWNER

LOCALLY BUILT

Maine Energy Systems (MESys) wood pellet boilers and furnaces are heating homes and businesses from Maine to the Arctic Circle. Built in Bethel, Maine, for the North American market, the licensed boiler design was acquired from ÖkoFEN, the world’s leader in automatic wood pellet boiler design and technology since 1989.

RENEWABLE PELLET FUEL

Trees use carbon dioxide from their environment as they grow. The carbon retained over a tree’s lifetime is released back into the carbon cycle whether the timber decomposes or burns. By switching to a MESys wood pellet boiler from an oil system, you will reduce your heating carbon footprint by up to 86%.

HOMES TO HIGH SCHOOLS

The MESys AutoPellet line of heating systems is effortless to use and is ideal for central heating and with some systems, domestic hot water. AutoPellets are fully-automated standalone systems designed to meet the demands of households, businesses, municipal buildings, and institutions.

EASE OF USE

The MESys AutoPellet boiler was designed to make your life easier. Pellet ash is automatically removed from the boiler and compressed into the integrated ashbox. The ashbox can hold ash from 2 tons of burned pellets before emptying. There is no need to shut the system down for ash removal or wear heat-protective mitts.

STATE-OF-THE-ART-TECHNOLOGY

MESys systems are always at the cutting edge of technology. Our engineers and partners are focused on continuous technological advancement which has led to breakthroughs in optimized combustion, efficient condensing technology, and user-friendly systems like the AutoPellet touch screen heating controller.

There has never been a better time to switch.

Fuel costs are spiking to record highs and there's no expectation that they'll return to low levels in the near future - especially not before the next heating season.

There is currently a Federal Tax Credit available for eligible new installations, state-specific rebates of thousands of dollars, not the mention what you will save on fuel costs each winter. We can assist with your rebate process and ensure you have the highest quality installation and experience with one of our Certified MESys Installers. Some states also allow you to earn Thermal Renewable Energy Credits, further offsetting your heating costs.

Summer is the ideal time to complete a new installation to give you peace of mind heading into the winter, but we are experiencing a massive surge in demand right now. To ensure you are able to acquire your new system in time, reach out to us today.
