Additional giveaways will be held at the Clemson v UNC baseball game (4/10), Seattle Mariners v New York Mets (6/2), and Western Carolina v Presbyterian football game (9/19). These moments unite community, media, and purpose while delivering immediate, life-changing support. to individuals living with ALS.
Our Story
The 723 Foundation was founded by country music artist and former college baseball player Matt Stillwell as a platform to support ALS-related causes. Stillwell played for legendary Western Carolina coach Keith LeClair, who succumbed to ALS at the height of his career. Coach LeClair’s resilience, faith, and leadership left a lasting impact on Stillwell and sparked what has become a growing movement honoring LeClair’s legacy. In November 2019, Stillwell officially launched the 723 Foundation through the LeClair Legacy — a golf tournament and gathering at Bear Lake Reserve created to celebrate Coach LeClair’s life and impact. Shortly thereafter, the COVID-19 pandemic paused the Foundation’s momentum. In August 2025, a chance meeting with Staci Galentine reignited the mission. The story of her late husband, Bryan “Wayne” Galentine, revealed a powerful connection between ALS and music — a missing piece that brought renewed clarity and purpose to the Foundation’s work. That connection has since led to meaningful partnerships with organizations such as ESPN and The Permobil Foundation, while uniquely bridging the worlds of college baseball and country music. These relationships have significantly expanded both the reach and vision of the Foundation. The 723 Foundation now operates as BEAT ALS — a name chosen to be instantly understood, instantly recognizable, and singularly focused on the mission: to support ALS families, advance awareness, and drive real impact.
If you're going to put your name on something, make it your best work. - Keith LeClair
