Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Week 2 of the spring term has gone very well; we have certainly been helped by better and milder weather this week.
We have been undertaking our final preparations for our accreditation visit, next week, from the National Autistic Society. The visit will provide us with an excellent opportunity to celebrate the good and better practice we aim to provide each day in school, for our autistic cohort. We hope our 2 assessors from NAS are made to feel welcome in school and can identify the many ways we scaffold our provision for our CYP with autism. Thank you to the many parents who completed the NAS questionnaire last week; your views are really important to the outcome of the review in school. We will certainly keep you informed of the outcomes over the next few weeks.
We have benefited from having the vast majority of our staff and pupils attending school daily. Our attendance in Term 1 was again really positive, with pupil attendance above 91% consistently, (92% last year). It was lovely to be able to send out so many letters to parents at the end of last term celebrating attendance, over 95%, from many pupils and to pupils who have significantly made improvements in attendance last term, from the previous year. Well done to all our high attending pupils, who continue to make the most of school provision.
School attendance is essential if children and young people are going to maximise the progress in school. Thank you for your support in getting your child to school each day.
The behaviour, cooperation and engagement in learning this week has been very pleasing. I’m pleased that our children and young people are engaging well with their learning in the curriculum, cooperating with staff and peers whilst making the most of the opportunity to be back in school lessons.
I hope you and your families have a restful and peaceful weekend.
Best wishes
Mr A Moloney, Headteacher
NEW BUILD INFORMATION
We have now been given a provisional date for the handover of the new build to the school, which will be during the Easter Holidays, 14th April 2025.
We will need to plan with the builders, Kier Construction, on how we will manage this move and it is highly likely that we will need the days after the published Easter break, (which is Friday 4th April to Monday 21st April), to manage the move. That will mean that all pupils will not be able to return to school after the Easter break until Monday 28th April 2025. We are writing to inform parents of these dates; If you have any concerns with these plans please do let us know.

Please be aware that we have a number of pupils in school with severe nut allergies. To reduce the risk of exposure for these young people, we aim to keep the school nut free. In order to support us with this we kindly ask that you:
- Do not give children nuts or nut products in their packed lunches.
- Do not give nuts, nut products or snacks/bars containing nuts for break time snacks.
- Do not send cakes or food items, containing nuts, in to school for birthday celebrations, cake sales or events.
Thank you for your support.

Our Catholic School
Our prayer focus this week:
'Jesus is amongst us each day. Where two or three gather in my name, I will be there with them.'
- Pope Francis
At SJV this week we have been focussing on our positive feelings. We have been sharing and reflecting God’s love, spreading our positivity throughout our school community.
Within our Catholic school we are looking at our Chaplaincy leader’s role, exploring the different responsibilities they have. We are also forming our new team for 2025, asking existing Chaplaincy leaders to reaffirm their commitment and looking for new recruits!
In RE this week, Key Stage 3 have been exploring charity and the importance of thinking of others. Whilst in Key Stage 4 we have been looking at all the different ways we can look after our world by caring for the environment. Key Stage 5 have been learning about the law and our responsibility within society.

Poetry Corner
Today we are celebrating our poet of the week, the wonderful Amanda in Class 10. Amanda's light shines through this poem. We thank her for sharing such beauty, hope and love in this amazing piece of writing. An inspiring poem that expresses her emotions but also asks the reader, what does love really mean to them? Well done Amanda! We are so proud to share this.
