MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear parents and carers,

On Monday, class assemblies focused on the important message to ‘Show Racism the Red Card’. Children in KS2 watched an educational film about Racism and in KS1 children listened to the story, ‘Acceptance is my superpower’, by Alicia Ortego.

We are proud of our diverse community and the positive effect on our identities and the extent which we identify with humanity, as a whole. Belonging and human connection is the biggest form of identify and helps us to share a fundamental connection with others, regardless of race, religion, sexuality or gender. Growing up and living in a diverse community supports our children in developing our rainbow words and characteristics such as positivity, friendship, helpfulness and social acceptance. It makes for a better world.

We teach and promote our British Values.

We know that our value of belonging is important and all stakeholders share in promoting this value.

Our actions and beliefs are deep rooted in our mission statement – We achieve excellence together.

Achievement Always do your very best. Together, we will succeed!

Belonging Be happy and help to make our school a caring, welcoming place.

Confidence Challenge yourself everyday. Ask, discover, explore and create.

Determination Don’t ever give up! Believe that you can and you will.

Excellence!

With this as our mantra we work hard to ensure every child is happy and supported in their journey with us. We want every child to grow and flourish in our care, regardless of age or need.

On Thursday the 17th of October it was World Values Day.

We bring our values to life at Darlinghurst and celebrate when they are in action. Every Friday we celebrate our postcards A – D that lead to E.

I know that children receive these with pride and love to show me as they leave the gates each Friday afternoon.

Family and personal values are equally important and help to shape us. How could you get involved and consider values at home?

As always, enjoy your family time together.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Poppy Appeal

This week we have launched our annual poppy appeal. Poppies can be purchased from the main office or from our prefect team on the main and side gates at home time. Please bring any spare change you have for this worthy cause. Alternatively, there is a QR code that you can use to donate.

Reporting absence

Absence and lateness must be communicated by telephone before 9:30am. The reason for absence/lateness must be given to the member of staff or voicemail. Detail of illness must be given.

Punctuality at the start and end of day is also important. The academy routines and timetabling is carefully set with a sharp start to the day. Gate windows allow adequate time for children to arrive and leave punctually. Our meet and greet processes are valued and we recognise that late arrival can be unsettling.

We will respond to patterns of lateness both in the morning and afternoon targeting repeated poor punctuality with meetings with the Senior Leadership Team.

Pre-loved uniform sale

On Thursday 24th October, we will be holding a pre-loved uniform sale in main hall after school. Please collect your child at normal pick-up time and enter the hall from the main office. Please do not attempt to enter the school from the playground.

This is a cash only event. Thank you for your continued support.

Pumpkin trail

We are looking forward to welcoming our families to an afternoon of spooky fun and activities on the 31st October! There are still tickets to purchase via your child’s ParentPay account or alternatively you can buy tickets on the day. Fancy dress is an absolute must!

Christmas card project 2024

Your child’s Christmas card design has now been returned, please check their school bag for these. The online shop will remain open until the 12th November. Orders cannot be taken after this date. You can place your order and also make any changes to spelling, class names via the website www.sforders.co.uk
