Director's Corner
Dr. Jodie Rommel, Director of Integrated Services
Dear Families, I hope you are doing well! I wanted to let you know that PSD will be celebrating Exceptional Children's Week from April 13th-April 17th, 2026. Exceptional Children’s Week is an annual celebration of students with exceptionalities and the professionals who work with them. The week-long celebration is a national event hosted by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), an international professional organization focused on improving the success of children with disabilities. There will be a Board Resolution at the April 14th Board of Education meeting. Integrated Services will also be providing information and resources to all schools to assist in this district-wide celebration of all students with exceptionalities. Wishing you and your family a wonderful spring break! Grateful, Jodie
SEAC Update
The Special Education Advisory Committee is made up of parents, community partners, and PSD staff. The purpose of SEAC is to represent students with disabilities and advise the Special Education Leadership Team on their behalf. The last SEAC meeting of the 2025-26 school year will be held on March 25th. The committee will be reviewing district policies as they relate to students with disabilities.
The action letter from the 2/18/26 meeting where SEAC provided recommendations to the Comprehensive Planning Committee for developing an approach to school consolidation is now posted on the SEAC page. If you would like to learn more about the Comprehensive Planning Committee process in PSD, please watch the video below.

Integrated services information night for spanish speaking families
PSD's Family Liaisons, in collaboration with Integrated Services, will be offering two Spanish Nights in April. The goal of these sessions is to inform Spanish speaking families of the special education process and help them feel more confident in navigating IEP documents and collaborating with teachers, specialists, and community resources. Presentations will be delivered in Spanish. We are hoping to make Integrated Services more accessible and understandable for our Spanish speaking families. The first session on April 7th is a pilot program and will be for the RMHS feeder zone. It will be held at Webber Middle School from 6:00pm-7:30pm. This session will focus on understanding your child's IEP. The second session is on April 28th from 5:30pm-8:00pm at Poudre High School and will focus on transition planning. This session is open to families at all schools. If you have questions, or would like to attend, please contact your family liaison or Barb Moreng at bamoreng@psdschools.org.

Our final Parent Workshop in our Parent Learning Community series is on "Executive Functioning". Executive functions are skills we use every day to organize our lives and get things done. We use these executive functions to prioritize tasks, organize projects, and manage time. Some kids (and adults!) struggle with these skills and have a hard time keeping track of homework assignments, tackling big projects, and staying organized. But there are many strategies that can help! Come learn how to support your child in school and life! This workshop will be held on Wednesday, April 29th from 5:30pm-7:30pm in person at Transition Pathways Academy - 1630 Stover Street. There is also a virtual option. Click the link below to register - it's free!
