Alumnus Mike Salinas Appointed Interim Athletics Director
On September 9, Javelina Athletics announced Executive Director of Athletics Steve Roach would be leaving his role after six years with the university. President Vela has appointed Javelina head football coach Mike Salinas '00 as interim Executive Director of Javelina Athletics effective September 19.
"As Michael continues to lead our football team the rest of the season, he will be supported by the incredible athletics staff, coaches, administrators and others who will ensure we continue to move our programs forward, while creating an environment where out student athletes thrive," said Dr. Vela.
"I am excited about the opportunity to step in as interim Executive Director of Javelina Athletics," said Salinas. "I appreciate Dr. Vela's confidence in me leading the program."

Alumna Saw Herself in Professors at A&I
Dr. Linda Villarreal '79, '86, '03, interim dean of the College of Education and Human Performance, spoke with 3 NEWS about her experience as a student in the late '70s.
"Sometimes we have these big dreams, and we wonder if we can do it, if we can achieve it, and we see somebody that's like us, that has the same cultural experiences as us, is that important," she said. "I think the professors being able to connect with students and their cultural experiences make their learning experiences much stronger."

Remembering Bobby Jackson '75
Bobby Jackson was a cherished member of the Rockport-Fulton community and a dedicated educator. Known for his passion for Texas history and his commitment to education, Bobby touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.
The Rockport Fulton Education Foundation is hosting an evening of celebration featuring stories, testimonials, and videos honoring Bobby Jackson's life and contributions. Enjoy refreshments, engage with volunteers dressed as Texas historical figures, and participate in the community spirit that Bobby so deeply loved.
