ADMINISTRATOR'S MESSAGE
Dear H.E.B Families, May is here and so is the excitement for the end of the school year! Our teachers are extending themselves at this time of year preparing our students for exams, as well as music & fine arts performances. In addition to this our teachers are attending field trips, coaching badminton, Bears at Bat, and soon to be Track & Field and finally preparing for awards and farewell. Our school is bustling with learning and activities, and it is truly a wonderful Christ Centered place to be! Parent Council News: Many thanks to those grade nine parents that have been and will be actively involved in the grade nine farewell. Mrs. Rolph-DeVicque is assisting with the organization along with our grade nine parent volunteers to ensure that everyone has a role to assist in the evening to give our students, and your children a memory they will have forever upon leaving H.E.B. One last note from our staff is to thank all families for your support for our production of MythUnderstood. Fine Arts is truly alive at H.E.B. as it is such a beautiful way for our students to showcase their talent and bring our community together. Our next music production will be our annual Spring Music Concert on the evening of May 14th in our large gym. Mothers play a special role in all our lives. In our modern world, there are so many different ways that the role of mother is brought to life. The essential characteristic of all those who fill that role for us is unconditional love, much like the love of God, our Father. In our faith, the ultimate example of that maternal unconditional love is found in our Holy Mother, Mary. Her love of God and of Jesus was limitless. Happy Mother’s Day on May 10th to all mothers.

Red Dress Day
The National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S) will be observed on May 5th. On Red Dress Day, and every day, we honor the lives of MMIWG2S by raising awareness of this ongoing national tragedy, and we hold in our thoughts the families and communities who carry the weight and live with the grief of losing loved ones. To raise awareness and pay tribute on this day, wear red, inform yourself about MMIWG2S, and participate in your local community events to commemorate this day.

myBlueprint Parent Session
Parents, are you interested in helping your child plan for their future? Do they need help with deciding what career path they should take? This starts with their interests and strengths, then progresses to what they want to do post-High School. Is it the trades, is it direct to work, is it post-secondary? Which post-secondary program is best for them? Every student (7-12) in Edmonton Catholic has access to myBlueprint, and myBlueprint is hosting general (Canada wide - virtual) parent information meetings on April 21st and May 7th. If you can’t make the sessions, you can sign up and receive the recordings. Sign up for these at https://education.myblueprint.ca/family-webinar-series
Gr 7. Jurassic Forest Field Trip
The Grade 7 students will be visiting Jurassic Forest in Gibbons, Alberta, where they will explore Alberta’s prehistoric past through interactive exhibits, fossil displays, and outdoor learning experiences. This hands-on field study connects directly to Grade 7 Science – Unit E: Planet Earth by helping students understand how fossils provide evidence of changes to Earth over geological time and what they reveal about ancient environments and life forms. The trip offers an engaging way for students to bring classroom learning to life while exploring Alberta’s rich geological history.
