2024-25 SEASON RECAP
Campbell women's basketball capped off another incredible season under the direction of head coach Ronny Fisher.
After being voted to finish eighth in the CAA Preseason Poll, Campbell finished 22-13 overall and 12-6 in the CAA, finishing third in the conference standings and earning a double-bye for the CAA Championship. The Camels finished as runners-up in the CAA tournament and went on to secure the program's first win in the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT).
FIRST WIN IN THE WNIT
The Fighting Camels came back from down eight to open the fourth quarter to defeat Coastal Carolina, 57-55, in the first round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament. It marks the program's first win in the postseason tournament and just the third win in a postseason tourney overall after Fisher led the Camels to two wins in the Women's Basketball Invitational in 2019.
FEELING 22
Campbell won 22 games this season, tied for the second-most in program history. It marks the fifth time in nine seasons under Coach Fisher that the Camels have won 20 or more games. CU surpassed its overall win total (17) and CAA win total (9) from last season. Five of Campbell's 12 CAA wins were by 20 or more points including a 30-point win over Hampton and a 40-point win over Northeastern.
ALL-CAA HONORS
Five Camels earned All-CAA honors for their performance during the regular season and at the CAA Championship. Gemma Nunez was named to the All-CAA Second Team, All-Defensive Team and the All-Tournament Team. Gianni Boone earned All-CAA Third Team honors while freshmen Ciara Alexander and Jasmine Felton were selected to the All-Rookie Team. Courtney Dahlquist picked up All-Tournament honors for her performances at the CAA Championship.
REWRITING THE RECORD BOOK
Several Camels set new season and career records this season. Gemma Nunez set the single-season assist record, dishing out 217 assists on the season. Courtney Dahlquist finished the season ranked third for threes made in a season with 72. Audrey Fuller wrapped up her career tied for the fourth-most career games played at 123.
CARDIAC CAMELS
Campbell came from behind and won six games this season when trailing entering the fourth quarter, including two games when it trailed by double-digits. The Camels trailed by as many as 15 points in the second half and erased a 13-point deficit to start the fourth quarter in a 71-67 overtime win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Nov. 27. Campbell erased a 13-point deficit with 6:13 remaining to defeat Towson in CAA play on Feb. 28. Both wins are tied for the second-largest 4Q comeback in program history (15 pts at High Point, 2019-20). Campbell picked up its final win of the season by erasing an eight-point deficit to begin the fourth quarter in its WNIT first round win at Coastal Carolina.

Christabel Ezumah (pictured right) was named to the CAA All-Defensive Team after ranking 2nd in the CAA and 44th nationally with 55 blocks in 2023-24. She completed her four-year career at Campbell ranking 2nd all-time in program history with 131 blocks.
Gemma Nunez was named to the CAA All-Defensive Team in 2024-25 after ranking 2nd in the CAA and 58th in the country with 73 steals
In 2024-25, the Camels ranked 3rd in the CAA in scoring defense, 2nd in turnover margin, 4th in rebound margin and 2nd in assist/turnover ratio.
The Camels have ranked in the top-100 nationally in three pointers made per game in three of the past five seasons

A 3-time Big South Coach of the Year, Coach Fisher enters his 11th season at the helm ahead of the 2026-27 season

In 2025-26, the Camel defense returned to the upper echelon of the sport, ranking 11th in the nation in both scoring defense and FG% defense. The team won 13 CAA games and was the two-seed in the conference tournament.
In 2024-25, the Camels won their first-ever WNIT game, defeating Coastal Carolina 57-55. The team advanced to the CAA Championship game in just their second year after making the jump to the conference.
In 2023-24, Fisher and the Camels made the jump to the CAA. The Camels earned a first-round bye in the CAA Championship and yet again anchored a tough defense ranking No. 8 nationally in scoring defense
Guided the Camels to the Big South Championship semifinals for a fourth-straight season in 2022-23. The Camels ranked No. 8 nationally in scoring defense, holding foes to 52.5 points per game. Campbell also ranked No. 8 in field goal percentage defense, limiting teams to shoot 35.1 percent from the floor
In 2021-22 Coach Fisher led Campbell to its second Big South regular season title in three seasons and the program's first WNIT berth. The Camels tied the program record with 23 wins marking the second time Fisher has hit that mark in his six seasons at Campbell
The 2020-21 season saw Coach Fisher and the Camels posted the No. 5 ranked scoring defense in the nation, finishing the season as runners-up in the Big South tournament
In 2019-20 he led the Camels to its first regular season conference title since 2001

Associate Head Coach Megan Hall
Enters her 22nd season on staff for the Camels ahead of 2026-27. Was elevated to Associate Head Coach in January 2024
The longest tenured member of the Camels’ coaching staff, Hall spent 11 seasons as an assistant to legendary coach Wanda Watkins prior to joining Ronny Fisher’s staff
In addition to being involved in all aspects of the Campbell program, Hall serves as the recruiting coordinator with special emphasis on post player development
Along with her assistant coaching duties, Hall has also served as a coach and camp counselor at numerous camps, including Pat Summit’s University of Tennessee Girls’ Basketball Camp
Following her two seasons at the community college ranks, Hall played a year at West Alabama (2000-01) and completed her playing career at Carson-Newman (2001-02), where she served as team captain
Assistant Coach Shy Tuelle
Enters her 3rd season on staff heading into the 2026-27 season.

Enters his 2nd season on staff heading into the 2026-27 season.
Former Head Coach at Buffalo State. Also served on staff at Syracuse and Buffalo. Former assistant coach at Daemen College.
Played three seasons at SUNY Cortland. Team captain in 2015-16, leading the team to a 21-8 record and SUNYAC title. Averaged 15.4 points that season, earning All-SUNYAC and second team all-district honors.
Director of Scouting & Video Operations Trevor Ray
Heads into his 4th season on staff ahead of the 2026-27 season
Joined the Camels after spending three seasons as an assistant coach and recruitment coordinator with the women's basketball program at John Brown University in Arkansas
While at John Brown, he led and assisted with recruitment, retention, scouting reports, player development, strength training, meal planning and coordinated recruitment visits. In 2022-23, Ray helped the program to an NAIA National Tournament appearance behind a 21-10 record
Has also made stops as a graduate assistant coach with Montreat College MBB (2018-20) and as a volunteer assistant with Montevallo WBB (2017-18)
Graduate of NC State ('16) and received his Master's degree from Montreat in 2020
Was a member of the first men's basketball program at William Peace University from 2012-14

Wanda Watkins
Wanda Watkins, who spent 35 years as head women's basketball coach at Campbell, became the school's seventh inductee into the Big South Conference Hall of Fame on May 31, 2019
Watkins spent 35 years as Campbell's women's basketball head coach before retiring after the 2015-16 season, and her official tenure in the Big South totaled 14 years from 1986-94 and 2011-16. She went 230-145 overall during her time in the Big South, which included a 135-67 record in conference games -- still the third-most overall and league wins among the Big South's women's basketball coaches.
A two-time regular-season champion (1988, 1991), Watkins directed the Camels to the first six Big South Championship games, and finished 16-12 in the conference tournament with a title in 1989. Her six title game appearances remain second-most in league history. Watkins was voted Big South Coach of the Year twice (1987, 1991) and won at least 20 games five times during her time in the conference.
She retired as the 29th-winningest head coach in NCAA Division I women's basketball at 549-443, and in 2015-16 was one of 14 active coaches in Division I to serve 30-plus years at the same institution. Watkins finished her career with 10 conference championship game appearances (six – Big South, four – ASUN) and won two crowns, as her 2000 squad clinched the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.
Watkins, who was Campbell's first female athletic scholarship in 1975, was named the team's graduate assistant in 1979, was hired as the school's first full-time assistant coach in 1980 and was promoted to head coach in 1981. She graduated more than 95 percent of her student-athletes while at Campbell
After retiring from coach, Watkins served as Campbell's Senior Associate Athletics Director after moving into the Senior Woman Administrator position
Also Campbell's Interim Director of Athletics in 2018-19, Watkins has also sat on various Big South committees, and was inducted into the school's Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017
In June 2022, the Big South named its female athlete of the year award in honor of Watkins

On November 18, 2023, Campbell University dedicated the playing surface at the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center / Gilbert Craig Gore Arena in honor of Watkins.
Wanda Watkins Court at Gore Arena was unveiled during pregame festivities on Wanda Watkins Day in Buies Creek. Hundreds of Watkins' former teammates, players, coaches, staff members, family and friends were in attendance to honor the Campbell icon
Following a video tribute, University President Brad Creed, and Director of Athletics Hannah Bazemore escorted Watkins to halfcourt. Members of the 2023-24 Campbell women's basketball team then unveiled the two large logos bearing Watkins' signature on the floor
