DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Following a back-and-forth game, Embry-Riddle pulled away in the final minute as the Eckerd men's basketball team dropped a roast SSC contest, 96-92, at the ICI Center on Wednesday.
The Tritons and Eagle swapped points over the opening seven minutes of the game before ERAU went on an 11-0 run to take a 23-15 lead. The Eagles took a 14-point lead with 6:41 left. A Carr Thiam triple ignited a 21-5 Tritons' run to close the half. ERAU added a last-second basket to tie the score at 43-43 at the break.
After trading leads to start the second half, Eckerd went on a 6-0 run to take a six-point favor. The Tritons stayed in front by one to two possessions until the 4:29 mark, where ERAU tied the score at 82-82. The Eagles added a triple to go up by three, but Eckerd quickly equalized. The Tritons tied the score three times over the final three minutes. After Embry-Riddle went up by two in the final 30 seconds, Eckerd had a chance to tie once again, but the shot caromed off the rim.
