Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!
Since the start of this half term, we have been focusing on our school value of ‘Respect’ including how we can show respect for others in the classroom by listening carefully to each others’ ideas. I have seen lots of fantastic learning in class and have been impressed with the children’s behaviour and focus. We have also been learning all about British values in our Wednesday assemblies each week. In the coming weeks we will also be learning about VE Day and having more assemblies led by our Wellbeing Ambassadors.
We are excited for our annual sports days! As always parents, carers and family are welcome to join us to cheer on the children. This year they will be on the following days in June:
Monday 16th at 2pm: F2
Wednesday 18th at 10:30am: F1
Wednesday 18th at 1:30pm: Year 5 / 6
Thursday 19th at 9:30am: Year 3 / 4
Thursday 19th at 1:30pm: Year 1 / 2
We look forward to seeing you there!
On Thursday 8th May at 9:00am, Mrs Walton, our maths lead, will be running a Multiplication Check workshop / information session for parents and carers of children in Year 4. This will be held in our community room and parents can come into school via the main reception. We look forward to seeing you there.
A reminder that Monday 5th May is a Bank Holiday and we will return to school on Tuesday 6th May at 8:45am. Fingers crossed for some sunshine!
Could we please ask parents and families who are collecting children at the end of the day not to stand and wait in the car park area. This is because some of our offices are at this side of the building where confidential meetings can take place. Thank you for your support with this.
In the week commencing Monday 12th May, Year 6 will be taking their SATs (Statutory Assessment Tests). It is really important that all children attend each day and are on time for school. Each morning Monday to Thursday we will be opening the classroom doors at 8:15am for children and providing them with breakfast if they would like to join us. This gives the children a chance to settle in school with their friends before the assessments. The last booster classes will be next week and there will be no boosters from 12th May. Please encourage your children to come next week for their final session.
Every Friday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life. We really need your support this year to raise our attendance. If you need any help or support please come and see Mrs Maree. You can see your own child’s attendance for the year and the last 4 weeks on the Arbor App. An attendance of 97% or above is considered to e good attendance.
