About Martin Skovbjerg

"In an era of picture-perfect lobbies and meticulously staged travel photography, Human Beings offers something different: honesty," says Skovjberg.

Martin SKOVBJERG (1980, Denmark) is a director, music producer and director of film, TV and music videos. He represents a new voice in Danish cinema: edgy, unvarnished, and introspective. His films focus on emotional ambiguity rather than plot, drawing viewers into slow-building tension and unresolved questions. Skovbjerg prefers non‑actors and spontaneous performances perfect for the project at Hotel Bella Grande. He directed the critically acclaimed series ANTON90 (2015), launched by the Danish national broadcaster DR. His debut feature Brakland/ Sticks and Stones (2018) had its European premiere at the BFI London Film Festival and was nominated for both Best Youth Film at the Danish Academy Awards and the Louve d’Or at Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montreal. Copenhagen Does Not Exist (2023) had its world premiere at IFFR 2023.

Why “Human Beings” Matters

At a time when travelers seek meaningful encounters beyond material luxuries, Human Beings reflects Hotel Bella Grande’s deeper commitment to people and place. It spotlights the personalities—from front‑desk hosts to restaurant creatives—whose passion elevates every guest experience. Martin Skovbjerg’s work frames hospitality itself as art: the stillness of a morning moment, a shared glance in Donna’s lounge, or the welcoming gesture at reception.
