Inspiring - Inclusive - Empowered
We acknowledge the Minjungbal people, of the Bundjalung Nation, who are the original custodians of the land on which the school proudly stands. We raise our hands to the sky that covers the Aboriginal land. We touch the ground in the care of the Aboriginal land. We place our hands on our hearts in love of the Aboriginal land.

From the Principal:
Contacting our staff
This is a gentle reminder that our school hours are 8:30am – 3:30pm. Staff will respond to emails and phone calls during these hours. On occasion, there may be exceptional circumstances where a staff member contacts families outside of work hours. As a staff, we prioritise being present and engaged with the students in our care throughout the school day. As a result, it may take up to a few days to respond to emails or return phone calls. We appreciate your understanding and ongoing support.
Sport
Swimming The Headlands Swimming Carnival will be held on Friday 20 February. We understand this is a tight turn around for those students that qualify on Tuesday at the VoSS carnival. Transport to the event in Ballina is by private transport (parents). PSSA Trials Many of our Year 5 and 6 students are self nominating for the various sport trials being held via our Headlands Sports Association. Be sure to keep an eye out for any PSSA notes that come home.
The Arts
Choir Holly Stanton went to Sydney on Friday to learn all of the songs that our choir will be performing at the Opera House in Term 3. A massive thanks to Holly for giving our kids this amazing opportunity. North Coast Creative Arts We were also successful in gaining entry to the North Coast Creative Arts Performance. We are looking forward to finding out all the details for this dancing and singing extravaganza!
Assembly Awards
Kindergarten Best Start
Thanks Kate Gallagher for running our Kindergarten Best Start assessments. The Best Start Kindergarten Assessment is a NSW state-wide, one-on-one, 20-minute (each) literacy and numeracy assessment conducted in Term 1. It helps teachers identify individual student skills—like letter recognition, early writing, counting, and pattern recognition—to tailor instruction. The assessment does not require preparation and is used to plan, not to assign grade, If you would like to know more have a chat with Kate.
