JMU Employer Newsletter Summer 2024

Greetings from JMU!

I hope you'll enjoy our summer newsletter filled with opportunities to engage with JMU students.

Registration is open for the University Career Fair on Tues. 9/24 and Wed. 9/25. We will be in a new and larger space this fall. Did you know that 44/64 organizations that hired 4 or more of our Class of 2023 graduates participated in career fairs?

Meet faculty from a variety of disciplines at the Faculty & Employer Forum on Thursday, August 8th, 2024. Registration is now live for this event in Handshake. During the conference, you’ll have a chance to talk to faculty about your recruiting needs, and we will be sharing recruiting updates and recruiting best practices. We'd love to have you join us!

If you are planning on hosting an information table, information session, or conducting on-campus interviews this fall, now is the time to reserve your space. Just make your request in Handshake and the Employer Services Team will work with you on all the logistics.

Our Employer Services Team is here to help as you plan for the upcoming fall semester. If you have questions about recruiting at JMU or just want to consult about your current strategy, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team.

All the best, Laura

Laura Hickerson, Associate Director for Employer Relations

P.S. - Pass It On!

  • Based on University Career Center information, 69.9% of Bachelors-degree recipients in the Class of 2023 completed at least one work-based learning experience.
  • There are currently 345 work-based learning courses at JMU, some with multiple course sections, engaged with outside partners to provide more than 5,800 students with real world applications of curriculum learning.

If you are interested in learning more about hiring interns in your organization, reach out to Emma Gibbons, Assistant Director for Internships, gibbonek@jmu.edu.

This is a donation-based resource, and students are welcome to take one complete outfit or up to 5 items from the closet each semester, FREE of charge. 1,347 students visited this past year! We would love to have more donations and we would welcome your donations at any time. We ask that donations be new or gently used; in ready-to-wear condition; with no stains, odors, tears, or missing buttons. All apparel and footwear sizes are needed!

Appropriate items for donations include business suits, dress shirts, blouses, slacks, jackets and/or skirts. Dress shoes, ties, belts, and scarves are also accepted. To setup a drop off or want more details on donation please contact Alyssa Hawley, adamsar@jmu.edu
