Weekly Calendar (2 Weeks)

Week of November 20

Week of November 27

This Week @LarsonMS

6th and 7th grades traveled to Athens to see their Fall Musical, The Wizard of Oz! Thanks to Mrs. Rogers for spearheading the field trip and all the teachers who supported it!

Wellness Weekend

As Thanksgiving draws closer, we wanted to let you know that the Thanksgiving holiday will be our first Wellness Weekend. This was promoted in a district newsletter, but we just wanted to make you aware of it in case you overlooked it. For those who are new to Wellness Weekends, there is an information flyer below about it. In short, no classroom assignments will be due on November 27, NO test/quizzes will be given, and NO grades will be returned on November 27. Emails sent over break will be answered later that week.

Good News, Bad News

Bad news, first. We bid farewell to Mrs. Anne Young. Mrs. Young came out of retirement to help us out in the office as a counselor while we searched for a new counselor. We appreciated the support Anne provided to our students and the energy she brought to Larson everyday!

Good news though, we brought a new counselor on to complete our office staff! Ms. Sana Mirza started as a counselor this past Monday at Larson. Ms. Mirza recently completed her graduate work at Oakland University and had an internship as a counselor at IA East. Ms. Mirza comes with rave reviews from OU and the IA. We feel so fortunate to bring Ms. Mirza's incredible creativity and enthusiasm into our team! She will be working with students with last names A - K.

1st Quarter Honor Lists

1st Quarter Honor lists are now posted on the LMS website at the link below. Click on 1st Quarter, then you will find All "A", Scholar Athlete, and Honor Roll (3.0 or greater GPA). Congrats to these hard working Rebels!

3D Cell Analogy Expo 2023

6th grade science students learned about the different structures and functions of cells found in unicellular and multicellular organisms. To better understand these structures, students learned about analogies that can be used to describe the function of the cell's parts. To further their understanding, students created their own unique analogies to represent a plant or animal cell, and created 3D representations of their analogies which were shared during interviews with 7th and 8th grade science students, parent volunteers, and Larson staff.

Thanks to Mrs. Parker and Mr. Maxson for organizing this experience so students could showcase their learning!

IM Boys' Basketball

Intramural Boys' Basketball starts the week following Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 30. Any 6th graders who interested in participating and have questions can reach out to Mr. Henning in the Main Office. Additional dates include 12/5, 12/7, 12/20, 1/11, and 1/25.
