SEPTEMBER 2025 IN NEW FAIRFIELD VOLUME 4, ISSUE 9 || SEPTEMBER 2025

We try to hold onto Summer as long as we can but we can't deny the gradual increase of the chill in the air!

Although we must say goodbye to the Summer, the Fall brings so much to look forward to with the upcoming holidays, sweater-weather, pumpkins and apple pie, apple-picking and the beauty and colors of the changing leaves!

Congress designated September 11th as Patriot Day in 2001 as a National Day of Remembrance and Service.

A Presidential Proclamation each year calls upon all departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the United States to display the flag of the United States at half-staff on Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance in honor of the individuals who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Americans are encouraged to participate in community service in honor of those our Nation lost, to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities to honor the innocent victims who perished as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. A MESSAGE FROM THE FIRE MARSHAL REGARDING OPEN BURNING

Additional information regarding open burning from the Ct Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP):

Prior to burning, the resident, or individual seeking to burn on the residential property where he or she resides, must have a valid, signed permit from his or her local Open Burning Official. The permit does not relieve the permittee of any legal liability, which may be incurred as a result of the fire.

Open burning is limited to the burning of brush only. Brush is defined as shrubs, vegetation or prunings, the diameter of which is not greater than three inches at the widest point. Leaves and grass are not considered brush. Open burning is not allowed for the purpose of clearing land, or for the disposal of construction debris, household trash, or leaves.
