Empathy Action Workshop
On Tuesday, some of our Year 9 students visited Tonbridge School to take part in an Empathy Action workshop titled The Poverty Trap. This immersive experience, delivered by a dedicated team of volunteers, is based on real-life testimonies from people around the world. It gave our students a powerful insight into the challenges faced by those living in extreme poverty, helping them to understand what it feels like to be caught in the cycle and to reflect on issues of global inequality and compassion.
After the workshop, students enjoyed pizza and music together, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to unwind, socialise, and reflect on what they had learned.
Year 11 Geography Field Trip – Stratford
On Tuesday, our Year 11 Geographers visited Stratford as part of their GCSE studies, focusing on urban regeneration and sustainable development. Students explored a variety of areas, from sites awaiting redevelopment to newly transformed spaces such as the Olympic Park, East Village, and East Bank.
During the visit, they carried out environmental quality surveys and considered how urban planning can improve both the environment and quality of life. The trip offered valuable hands-on fieldwork experience, bringing classroom learning to life and providing insights that will support their upcoming examinations.
Sixth Form Classics - Bacchae Theatre Trip
On Thursday 2nd October, the Classics and Drama A Level students headed to the National Theatre in London to see Bacchae, a new play by Nima Taleghani after Euripides. The A Level Classics students study the original play, while the Drama students were looking at it from a performance perspective. The general consensus was the innovative use of the chorus and the reimagined plot updated the play while keeping the feelings and poignant morality of the original. For a Greek tragedy, we laughed more than we thought we would, but were still shocked by the actions of the character.
'An absolutely brilliantly funny adaptation of Bacchae, and yet somehow, I wanted to cry at parts of it! So so so so good!!!' Gracie, Upper Sixth
