Practical life
Care of self
Snapping frame
Materials: A dressing frame with cloth flaps securely tacked at left and right sides and joined in the center by a series of snaps. The studs are on the right hand flap and the sockets are on the left hand flap. The aim of this work is OCCI ( order, concentration, coordination, independence) and learning to fasten snaps.
Slicing wooden fruits
Materials: Some wooden fruits in a bowl, a cutting board, a wooden knife and a tray. The direct aim of this work is OCCI.
Sensorial
Rough and smooth boards
Materials: The Rectangular boards divided into rough and smooth surfaces. The first board is divided into two equal squares. One of the squares is covered with sandpaper and the other square being an area of wood highly polished and very smooth. The second board is divided into narrow strips of sandpaper and smooth natural wood, polished and very smooth. The third board consists of strips of sandpaper of various grades from coarse to fine. Exercising this work the child develops the tactile sense. Tactile discrimination between rough and smooth.
Geometric solids
Materials: Three geometric solids sphere, cone, cube and a tray to set solids. Working with this activity the child develops his or her visual discrimination of three dimensional forms and develops the language by naming the shapes. Also prepares the child for mathematics in the area of geometry.
Math
Spindle boxes
Materials: The wooden box of natural wood with ten long compartments side by side in each. At the back of each compartment is a symbol printed in black. Symbols are 0 through 10. A box containing 45 wooden spindles. Here the child learns to associate quantity with symbol, introduces the concept of zero, learns the single entities which make up numerals, learns that the natural sequence of numerals is given by the numerals painted on the box.
Writing the calendar (ordinal numbers)
The children learn to read and write the ordinal numbers such as " first, second" by using the calendar every day. The ordinal numbers can also used when the children are in line.
45 Layout- Horizontal
Materials: Golden bead material: 45 unit beads, 45 ten bars, 45 hundred squares, 45 thousand cubes. Set of wooden printed numeral cards from 1-9, 10-90, 100-900, 1000-9000. Nine cups for unit beads, a tray to carry materials. Here the child learns the hierarchy of numbers in the decimal system. Learns to put numbers of larger quantity into sequence, learns the place value of zero, prepares for composition of couples numbers and prepares for four operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Materials: picture cards with pictures that are rhyming. Here the child develops oral language and auditory sense.

Sandpaper letters with objects
Materials: A set of wooden cards with lower case alphabet letters which are composed of sandpaper affixed to the surface. The consonant letters are mounted on pink masonite and the vowel letters are mounted on blue masonite. There is one card for each letter. A variety of objects. Here the child learns the beginning sounds associating letters and objects. Learns the muscular tactile sense of the configuration of letters. Prepares for reading and writing.

Sand tray
The direct aim of this work is to learn to form letters. To develop finger and wrist muscles. To develop hand and eye coordination. This is preparation to write with a pencil.
Name writing
Here the child learns to write his name by tracing his name.
Science
Sink and Float
Materials: clear plastic container, water, tong, labels, towel and collection of objects in small container. The aim is to direct the child to analyze something through the observation.
Art
Use of hole punch
Here the children cut a shape of a pumpkin, punch holes around and lace with a yarn.

Birthday celebrations
The Earth and the Sun celebration of life.
The child walks along the ellipse around the sun for the years of the child's life and gives the child both an initial impression of the earth/sun relationship an of the passage of the years from his/ her birth to the present day. It is both a geography and a history lesson.
Maverick Gholston-Pierson celebrated his 3rd birthday on 28th of October. His parents and his twin sister Milo were presented for the celebration. Happy Birthday Maverick and Milo!
Ari Patel walked around the sun celebrating his 4th birthday on 30th of October. His parents joined the celebration. Happy Birthday Ari!
A parent from the Olive classroom gave a presentation to our school children on the tropic of Middle east countries.
Halloween parade
Children had fun wearing costumes, going on the parade and collecting candies.
Doctor's visit to Magnolia room
Before we started the Halloween parade the doctor checked the hearts of the students in Magnolia room and she found that their hearts are happy. Happy hearts were rewarded with a happy face sticker. Everyone enjoyed the doctor's surprise visit.
Diwali celebration
Mrs. Rashinkar gave a presentation on Diwali celebration in our classroom. Children enjoyed learning about it as we learn celebrations around the world.
