Communication

8th December 2023

It is starting to look like Christmas here at the Academy! This week, staff and children came together to enjoy our Christmas lunch and also celebrate Christmas Jumper day in aid of Save the Children. This year we have so far raised a total of £374, there is still time to make a donation via your child’s ParentPay account. We are in full swing with rehearsals for our Christmas productions which we are looking forward to performing to you next week.

Preparations for our Christmas Fayre on Tuesday 19th December are well under way and we have heard that there are some special guests arriving to bring some festive cheer to our children and families. If you would like your child to visit Santa’s grotto or the Grinch’s cave, time slots will be available for you to book via your child’s ParentPay account.

KS1 & KS2 parent consultations

Please check your SchoolPing for details of Parent Consultations being held on Tuesday 16th January and Wednesday 17th January. To book your appointment, please use the MCAS app (My Child at School). The booking system will open on Monday 11th December 2023 at 19:00pm and close on Monday 8th January 2024 at 19:00pm. If you have any technical difficulties when accessing MCAS please contact Mr Pridham at ictsupport@darlinghurstacademy.org.uk for support.

Should you be unable to attend parent consultations but feel that communication with the class teacher is needed, please contact Mrs Lowe at mrslowe@darlinghurstacademy.org.uk who will be able to support you.

Online Safety

In 2019, Disney launched its own streaming platform, intending to challenge the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime. Giving (often exclusive) access to shows and movies – such as the legendary studio’s animated classics and the revered Star Wars back catalogue – Disney+ has been a colossal success, proving popular with viewers of all ages.

Despite Disney’s reputation for wholesome, child-friendly content, however, there’s far more material available on their platform – some of which is aimed exclusively at adults. This could easily fly under the radar, given the company’s general image. This guide has useful tips to help your family sit back, relax and enjoy what Disney+ has to offer.

School photographs

The online shop for ordering your child’s school photograph to ensure free delivery back to school, will close on Sunday 10th December. You can place your order through www.tempest-orders.co.uk using your child’s web access code. Should you have any questions, please contact Tempest on 01736 751555 (option 3)
