This week, we’ve been focusing on physical development — getting our bodies moving and hands busy! Activities like climbing, balancing, and mark-making help build strength, coordination, and confidence, all of which support the children’s future writing skills too.
On Wednesday, we had a real treat, our first cricket lesson! These sessions will continue throughout the half term, giving the children a chance to learn the basic skills for playing a team game. They were all so impressive, listening carefully and joining in brilliantly during our first session.
Another treat on Thursday- we’ve started an exciting new partnership with Dance City! We met Miss Davidson, who will be helping us explore how our bodies can move through dance.
All of this adds to our already exciting physical development curriculum. The children may have mentioned our daily yoga sessions to you. They are the perfect way to stretch, unwind, and relax after a busy day.
Other highlights this week included an oracy and art session all about fireworks, some seasonal exploration with Miss Southern, and our maths focus — learning how to line objects up horizontally and vertically, as the first steps towards making patterns.
It’s been a busy week full of movement, creativity, and fun! From cricket and dance to yoga and outdoor exploration, the children have been building their physical skills and confidence in so many ways. What a great week of learning through play!
