Alexandria Paquet joined the Bulldogs at a pivotal time in the program. After building a decorating career at two previous institutions, the senior guard was determined to add another milestone: 1,000 career points. Learn more about Paquet's senior season and her achievement down below:
The precursor...
Before becoming a Dean Bulldog, Paquet had several stops in her career. She began in her hometown of Santa Maria, California, playing basketball Allan Hancock College. In two seasons with the Bulldogs (2021-2023), Paquet posted 579 points and shot over 77 percent at the free throw line. She was also tabbed as an All-Conference Honorable Mention during her first-year campaign.
After two seasons in Califronia, Paquet transferred to Eastern Nazarene College, formerly located in Quincy, Massachusetts. As a junior, Paquet scored 234 points and averaged over 14 points per game with the Lions. Going into her senior year, Paquet would need just 75 points to reach the coveted 1,000 point milestone. However, with Eastern Nazarene preparing to close its doors, Paquet would need to find a new home to finish the job.
A perfect match
Paquet eventually found her match at Dean, pairing with first-year Head Coach Megan Dixon. With the program on the brink of new life, Paquet would immediately see minutes on the court. In just the second game of the season, Paquet would produce a 22 point performance, including three steals and 17 rebounds. She would go on to score 15 points or higher in five of the next 10 games.
After the holiday break, Paquet continued her strong run into conference action. In Dean's close contest with Norwich University, Paquet would score 19 points, two rebounds, and a steal. This strong performance put her in prime position to secure the moment she had been chasing: 1,000 points.
THE HISTORIC BASKET
Entering their January 29th contest versus Anna Maria College, Paquet would need just three points to successfully reach 1,000. Even with a strong start by the AmCats' offense, it wouldn't take Paquet long to do it.
With just over a minute elapsed in the game, the Bulldogs would setup a three-point play. Abi Boutin (Rocky Hill, CT) would bring the ball past center court. After being met with a blockade, she quickly went to the top of the key, finding an open Paquet towards the left corner.
With a swift pass and targeted shot, Paquet drilled the three-pointer to achieve history. She officially became the first player in the program since Makayla Rudder (2020) to score 1,000 career points. Paquet is just the third in program history to do such.
Paquet would finish her senior campaign with 262 career points, capping an unforgettable year for the women's basketball program. She would also be named to the 2024-25 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Sportsmanship Team.
