Welcome Back to a New Academic Year at Lodge Park Academy
Dear Families,
We are delighted to welcome all our students back to Lodge Park Academy for the start of what promises to be a fantastic year of learning, growth and achievement. A particularly warm welcome goes to our new Year 7 students, who have made a superb start to their secondary school journey, and to our new Year 12 cohort, who are already showing the commitment and maturity expected in the Sixth Form.
We have been so proud of how our students have approached the new academic year. Attendance across the Academy has been above 90%, with students arriving smartly in their full school uniform and fully engaged in lessons. It has been a pleasure to see classrooms filled with enthusiasm, energy and a real determination to succeed.
In Week 1, every student took part in our welcome back assemblies led by Principal Mr Kirby, alongside Vice Principals Mr McGeown and Mrs Cooper. These assemblies reinforced our shared values and high expectations, setting the stage for success in the year ahead.
Week 2 has been equally busy and productive, with students embracing homework activities, taking part in school photographs, enjoying LPA Reads activities and representing the Academy in sporting events. Our Year 7 students have already shown great teamwork and spirit, with a particularly successful Rounders event that highlighted their enthusiasm both on and off the field.
It has been a truly positive start to the year, and we are looking forward to building on this momentum in the weeks and months ahead
Thank you for supporting us as we embark on the new academic year.
Warm regards,
Lodge Park Academy Leadership Team
Year 11 Parent Information Evening 2025 – Thursday 18th September 6-7pm
We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our first Year 11 Parent Information Evening of the academic year. We are inviting all parents and carers of students in Year 11 to join us in the main hall of the school next Thursday, 18th September from 6:00p.m. - 7.00 p.m.
The purpose of this evening will be to inform you of the structure of this school year. As students enter the most important year of their secondary education it is essential that we work together to support students through the challenges that they will face.
This evening will serve to provide both yourself and your child with the information and guidance needed to adequately prepare for mock examinations and then their real GCSE and Level 2 qualifications that students will be taking in May and June of 2026. Through the support they will receive in school alongside the unwavering support that you will provide at home we can secure the best possible outcomes for students.
We will also provide key updates regarding a range of support that we will be able to offer at key points alongside advice on resources available to students to support their independent study.
If there are any questions, please feel free to contact either of us.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you there.
Mr M McGeown - Vice Principal & Mr J Cronin Assistant Principal
Championing Independent Learning with Seneca at Lodge Park Academy
At Lodge Park Academy, we are always looking for innovative ways to support our students’ learning and progress. We are delighted to announce the successful launch of our new Key Stage 4 homework platform, Seneca, which has already made a remarkable impact on our students’ independent learning habits.
Since its introduction, student engagement has soared, placing Lodge Park Academy as the third highest user of Seneca across schools in our region. This is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the dedication shown by our students as they take greater ownership of their studies.
There have also been some incredible individual efforts. Notably, Emanuela F has completed over 4 hours of independent study using the platform — an outstanding example of determination and commitment.
Looking ahead, students in Years 10 and Year 11 will continue to receive significant amounts of homework through Seneca, carefully set in line with the school’s homework timetable. These tasks are designed to strengthen knowledge, build confidence, and ultimately prepare students for success in their GCSE and Level 2 qualifications.
We kindly ask for your support as parents and carers in encouraging and guiding your children to complete their homework on Seneca. Your involvement makes a real difference and helps reinforce the value of independent learning at home.
Together, we can ensure that every student at Lodge Park Academy is equipped to reach their full potential.
Mr McGeown - Vice Principal, Quality of Education
Term 1 House Competitions
Welcome back, we hope you had a great Summer holiday! Congratulations once again to Kestrel who were crowned last year’s house champions.
We are extremely excited for another action-packed House Championship at Lodge Park Academy this year. With another 30 plus competitions, featuring some brand-new competitions as well as some old favourites, this year promises to be really exciting.
Term 1 kicks off with the annual Limbo competition in the main hall before the return of Football and Netball. A brand new competition sees Heads of House take on our very own version of ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’.
House Limbo
The race for the 2025/26 LPA House Championship truly gets underway on Thursday (18th September) next week as House teams go head to head in the Limbo competition.
Students across each year group will represent their House on the stage in front of a full hall. This is a great competition to get proceedings underway with students and staff generating a great atmosphere. The last participant standing will be crowned champion.
This is a ticketed event, with students receiving tickets if they meet attendance and behaviour criteria, clearly explained at the start of the academic year.
There are lots of opportunities throughout the year to get involved in. If there is a particular competition you are interested in, please make sure you register your interest with either your Tutor or Head of House.
Year 7 Rounders Cup
The new Year 7s began life at LPA with their very own ‘Rounders Cup’ competition after school on Thursday.
Due to the rain, the competition was moved inside the Sports Centre where each House played each other in a round-robin style tournament. Following some closely contested matches, it was Kestrel and Goshawk who progressed to the final, where Kestrel prevailed and were crowned champions – retaining the Year 7 Rounders Cup trophy for the second year in a row.
House points from the competition have been added to the overall totaliser.
LPA House ‘Fantasy Premier League’
Fantasy Premier League is underway at LPA with students, staff and family members battling it out across throughout the premier league season for those much needed house points. The virtual game involves participants creating a fantasy team of premier league players, who they will manage on a weekly basis in line with the weekly Premier League fixtures.
It has been an exciting start to the competition and following the opening 3 games it is Finlay who is top of the league, followed by Gyula and Suzie in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Over 40 teams have so far entered the league – if you play Fantasy Premier League but have not yet joined, there is still time!

LPA Harvest Festival Collection
LPA are extremely excited to be taking part in the Harvest Festival again this year, in support of Corby Foodbank.
As a community each of the four Houses come together throughout term to donate food items and household products to support those most in need in our community.
We are kindly appealing for your donations of food items and household products to be brought into school before being donated through the Harvest Festival service at the end of term.
Please do not donate fresh food products. Items need to have a long shelf life. House points will be awarded to the House who donate the most ‘house coloured’ packaged products.
If you feel this is something you can support with please send in your child with your donations. House collection boxes will be located in the main hall from Monday 15th September 2025.
The deadline for donations is Friday 17th October
Thank you in advance for your support.
ABOVE & BEYOND from Term 6 Academic Year 2024-2025
Across the year twice each term tutors selected an Above & Beyond star from their Tutor group who demonstrated at least one of our LPA core values of Ambition, Aspiration, Respect, Resilience, Courage and/or Gratitude consistently. We then celebrated those individuals by displaying their star photos on our House Above and Beyond Boards in the House Hub area where they remained for the Academic year.
During the last week of term all nominees were entered into a prize draw where a student from each House received a voucher. These were presented by Mr Kirby during lineup last Monday of term.
Also each term a Star of the Term was selected for each House from all those chosen and those 24 students also went into a prize draw to receive a voucher and the winner was...
Laker K (7LG) who also receives 50 points for her House - Goshawk.
Our Above and Beyond Tutor group stars for 2025-2026 begins again this term and we hope to share and celebrate these winners with you throughout each term.
