Mya McClure ’25 graduated from Notre Dame with the ability to blend creativity with expertise and a servant’s heart with critical problem-solving to effect the change she wishes to see in the world.
At Notre Dame, Mya was part of Iron Sharpens Iron (Interdenominational Christian ministry), Johnson Family Hall, the Feed My Starving Children mobile food pack project, two Powerful Means Initiative immersion trips, Crossroads United Way, and served as a consultant for nonprofits. A management consulting and sociology double-major, Mya shared her distinct Notre Dame experience with others in Uganda and across campus.
Please describe a project you worked on or an organization you joined that served others.
"Through the Powerful Means Initiative at the Mendoza College of Business, I enrolled in an Innovation & Design Thinking course (Professor Emily Harris) and an Applied Impact Consulting course (Professor Wendy Angst), both partnering with Saint Bakhita’s Vocational Training Center in Uganda.
In these classes and during two immersion trips to the school, I collaborated with fellow Notre Dame students and the scholars at Saint Bakhita’s to develop the Bakhita Business Board Game. Designed to spark family conversations about financial decision-making and the trade-offs between long-term investment and immediate needs, the game aims to bridge generational gaps in understanding entrepreneurship.
"After testing the game with students and alumni in Uganda in early 2025, I have continued to integrate their feedback to ensure the gameplay resonates meaningfully with their lived entrepreneurial experiences.
As Notre Dame students continue to finalize the game, I hope this tool not only helps scholars strengthen financial literacy but also deepens intergenerational dialogue and empowers sustainable business practices that can uplift their families and communities."

What about your Notre Dame journey will stick with you most?
"What will stick with me most is how Notre Dame completely expanded my world. It happened in countless ways. My classes broadened my understanding of society, culture, and the diverse careers that exist.
"Other learning moments that will stay with me forever came through class and extracurricular projects in which I collaborated, problem-solved, and had once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
"Notre Dame not only opened my eyes to broader perspectives but also introduced me to inspiring individuals. The power of connection here is real. I've met my best friends—those who I know will journey through the rest of life with me—and peers, mentors, and professors who I know I will continue to support me in whatever comes my way. Their dreams have inspired my own and made them so much bigger.
"Most of all, I am forever changed by the generosity that defines Notre Dame. It paved the way for me to attend, and now for my younger brother and sister as well. I cannot imagine how different my life, and that of my family, would be had I not gone to Notre Dame."
Notre Dame students make an exceptional impact as a force for good on a global scale. The unwavering support of the Notre Dame family gives them the opportunities to make a lasting, meaningful difference.
