Soldiers from the 957 Engineer Company Multi-Role Bridge Company (MRBC) tested and trained on their newest watercraft with instructors from the Birdon America Inc. July 27th, 2023 at Kimball Bottoms in Bismarck.
This powerful vessel is called the M30 Bridge Erection Boat (BEB). The M30 is a 24ft twin engine, water jet propelled, aluminum hull workboat. It provides propulsion, thrust and stabilization for the Improved Ribbon Bridge (IRB) bays for bridging and rafting operations.
Its secondary mission supports short-term anchorage, diving support missions, troop transport and personnel and equipment recovery. The BEB is operated by a two-person crew and is replacing the MKII BEB.

Navy Admiral visits 119th Wing North Dakota Air National Guard Base
Admiral Stuart Munsch Commander of U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and Allied Joint Forces Command Naples visited the 119th Wing to learn more about their service operations on July 21, 2023. Munsch visited as part of a public affairs tour to learn more about the work other services provide in missions where the navy is less represented.
“Admiral Munsch was here as part of a naval outreach program that the navy operates in their public affairs arena to learn more about areas where the navy is less represented and see the work that other services provide,” said, Colonel Mitch Johnson, 119th Wing Commander of the North Dakota Air National Guard Base.
Highlighting what we do as a unit is a significant opportunity for members at the base.
“It’s not everyday that we get to interact with someone who controls all the people, ships and equipment, of naval forces in Europe and Africa,” said Col. Johnson. “To see the concerns and things he is interested in and to be able to dovetail that into what we do here, in the unit, is very significant for us,” said Col. Johnson
Visits like this help us grow our joint network of leaders who understand our role in the joint forces and with our allies which is something we all want.
“The admiral was impressed with the 119th Wing and all the great things our Hooligans are doing,” said Col Johnson. “As someone who leads thousands of people, he understands how hard it can be at times to get everyone moving in the same direction. To be able to show him what we have been able to do across our wing was and is the highlight of my job.”
Lt. Col. Kevin Dacy, (119th Operations Group Commander), Col. Mitch Johnson (119th Wing Commander), Adm. Munsch, and Maj. Gen. Al Dohrmann pose for a photo during the visit at Hector Air Field.
