New upcoming events are on the horizon for PRHS By: Akadia Hayden, Reporter

As time ticks by and fall turns to winter, as Christmas creeps around the corner to shortly go back hiding until next year, there are many events that have happened so far such as Homecoming, the Haunted Maze, the Blood Drive, and senior night for fall sports. The silent and slightly chaotic hustle and bustle of the PRHS campus will soon become calm and joyful when we welcome new events to our horizons. Events such as the Winter semi-formal, the canned food drive, the spikeball tournament, and the Krispy Kreme fundraiser are up next for Bearcats. Leadership student and Associated Student Body (ASB) president Grant Acevedo says “I think these upcoming events, like the canned food drive, I think they’re [an] important part for leadership and the whole campus as a whole to get involved not just with the school, but also with the community.” “Just be your best self, be ready to be kind of involved with the activity,”Acevedo said. These events are open for every Bearcat, so many should come to participate.

The Spikeball Tournament is taking place from Nov. 13 to Nov. 20 at lunch. Nov. 20 being when the championship game will be held. Bearcats should come watch other Bearcats battle it out for the title of spikeball champion. It is a fun way to be involved with the campus and cheer the competing Bearcats on. Another new event that will be taking place is the Winter semi-formal. This is taking place in February with snowflakes, snowcones, and hot chocolate. Further details to be revealed soon. The place where this event will be held is still pending. Just look around campus, listen to the loudspeakers, and be aware to get details of the Winter semi-formal. Another event that is taking place at PRHS is the Canned Food Drive. This is taking place from Nov. 17 to Nov. 20. The Canned Food Drive will be held at PRHS where you can bring your non-perishable foods to help people during the holidays. Bring these non-perishable items to your fourth period class. This will help Bearcats come together as a whole to help fellow Bearcats on campus and people in the community off campus. Another event taking place is the Krispy Kreme fundraiser. This event is taking place from Nov. 13 to Dec. 12. If you would like to order one of these donuts, find a Leadership student to give your money to, cash and check accepted. Each one you buy comes in boxes, instead of single donuts. Glazed donuts cost $15 per box, and chocolate and assorted donuts cost $20 per box. The donuts will be handed out Monday during finals week, so Bearcats can snack on sweets while taking their finals. Another event that is taking place at PRHS is the student news report. This will be held every other week with events that take place around the campus. Two people will be talking to Leadership to get a visual on tutorials every other week.

The Leadership, Adv. Leadership and Dance teacher Jennifer Bedrosian thinks that Bearcats should, “Be looking around and be aware of [the events]. If there’s going to be posters, there’s going to be social media, we’ll be announcing it at lunch, over the loudspeakers.” As long as Bearcats look around campus for those posters, they can be aware of the upcoming events. “I just always encourage bearcats to get involved. So do play, you know, playing a tournament, if it's something that you like, don't just sit and watch like be the Bearcat that like just takes time to jump in.” Bedrosian said, giving her advice for Bearcats. If you see a poster around campus for the Spikeball Tournament, we encourage you to sign up, make memories in your high school years, don’t just sit back and watch from afar. Although some of these events have been completely planned out, they might change. There will also be more information about the Winter semi-formal revealed soon, so keep an eye out. There are many events coming to PRHS that are going to make the Bearcats want to party and dance in the snow during the Winter semi-formal, or smile and help the community by giving canned food. Leadership hopes these events are going to help build up the campus energy and help Bearcats make new friends like previous events they’ve put on.
