what is Owluminate?
Kennesaw State University is a thriving campus community built on more than academics, it’s built on connection, well-being, and shared purpose. We want all Owls to thrive, both inside and outside the classroom. That’s where "OWL"uminate comes in. Last year Professors Sangsun Choi and Sarah Johnson, School of Communication & Media, partnered with KSU's Center for Young Adult Addiction and Recovery Center and designed a competition where students create public service announcements (PSA) and graphic design pieces focused on empowering students to choose positive, healthy behaviors across our campus. The initiative is made possible through a special grant from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and directly aligns with KSU’s strategic priority on "enhancing and inspiring the KSU community." By strengthening the student experience, encouraging meaningful engagement, and increasing awareness of the resources and habits, ALL of our OWLS can flourish. Join us for the 2026 challenge! Use your creativity to make an impact, inspire your fellow Owls, and help build a campus where every student can thrive academically, socially, and personally.
Details about the 2026 Challenge
Students are invited to create a public service announcement or graphic design materials (an OwlTv Graphic, Wall Poster, or Napkin Insert—or all three!) that highlight the importance of preventing alcohol or other drug misuse among college students.
I know what a poster and public service announcement are, but what is an "OwlTv Graphic?"
An OwlTv graphic is a branded digital message created for the OwlTv network at Kennesaw State University. These graphics appear on television screens across campus in high-traffic areas and are designed to share timely, relevant information with students, faculty, and staff. OwlTv graphics are meant to be clear, concise, and visually engaging since viewers typically see them while walking by. They highlight important campus events, opportunities, announcements, or reminders and are formatted to align with the university’s branding standards. The goal is to communicate key details quickly—what the event or message is, when and where it takes place, and any important call to action. All content submitted for OwlTv follows university guidelines to ensure consistency, readability, and relevance to the campus community.
