Ambassadors for Christ
"Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” 2 Cor 5:20
Paul in defending the message that he preaches declared we are “Ambassadors of Christ” v20. An ambassador is an official envoy sent by a nation to another. We are called, anointed and given the authority to represent the King of Kings and Lord of Lord, Jesus Christ.
An ambassador:
- Represents the King. We do not represent ourselves but Him alone.
- Represent culture of the nation. Our culture is biblical not nationalistic notr communal.
- Represent the heart and wishes of the King. We seek to know and to do the will of God
All of us are called to be ambassadors. We are called to preach the Gospel and to develop the culture of the Kingdom of God in the Church. Today’s Church has the tendencies to celebrate the human culture that is linked to the peculiarities of certain nationalities and communities. Our culture must be in sync with the Word of God and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Our identity is determined by what God does in us.
“Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh…. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new 2 Cor 5:16-17
Our message is the message of reconciliation.
“Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation” 2 Cor 5:18-19
Our main purpose in life is to live for Christ not for ourselves.
“And He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again” 2 Cor 5:15

Set Ourselves Apart for His Glory & Purpose
“…grace has been shown from the Lord our God…. to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage. For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage; but He extended mercy to us…”(Ezra 9:8-9)
